It's a shame at how the Airplane, Top Secret, Naked Gun movies all featured seasoned professional serious actors that would take a try at comedy and they always came out funny.

Fox's Vampire Spoof Get a Title

Fox is fast-tracking a vampire comedy from Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the duo behind Epic Movie, Scary Movie, Disaster Movie and so on...

For a spell, it was only known as Untitled Vampire Spoof. Rather than take the expected "Vampire Movie" moniker, the film is going to be called, wait for it, Vampires Suck.

To capture the Twilight zeitgeist, this puppy needs to be in theaters ASAP, so Fox is shooing it onto the summer schedule for August 18. The IMDB listing for the film has Kim Jeong (The Hangover, Community) on board to star.

In other vampire news, it looks like Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the makers of Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie, are back and ready to take on the vampire genre themselves with Untitled Vampire Spoof, which 20th Century Fox just slotted in for release on Wednesday, August 18.

It looks like /Film nailed this one when they filed this report about a secret project by the duo and mused that the movie may be a spoof of the "Twilight" series. No cast has been announced, but Ken Jeong (The Hangover) is rumored to be among them

What bugs me about all these movies is that spoofs SHOULD be made. When I think back to the high class of spoof movies from that past (almost anything by Mel Brooks, Airplane, Naked Gun, Hot Shots, etc.), I smile because those movies were legitimately funny. Now they only churn these things out so they can turn a quick buck and then go straight to DVD two weeks later.

There has to be one studio that's willing to produce a spoof film that's actually FUNNY and that ISN'T riding on a shoestring budget. Honestly, "Superhero Movie" was a great opportunity give the public something hilarious because superhero films are such a huge part of pop culture right now, but alas, we got poorly-marketed crap instead. Maybe someday someone will get it right again.

What do you expect from a film thats shot in prolly only a couple weeks. Its June and this film comes out August of this year.
