The intros are just Coulson popping up and doing a really brief intro of the hero/movie. I guess they were made for a Phase One movie marathon, maybe the one they did for The Avengers.

Okay, so I was just re-reading some stuff on IM3, and I had no clue Black didn't like IM2. Also, that's slightly disappointing that the "new" deleted scenes are around one for each movie.

A sub-orbital rocket can still go into outerspace...

lol "Sub-Orbital Suit" it IS space armor lol

Sub Orbital is a type of space flight. It's not deep space, but I think it involves where the craft goes into space, then comes back down, or doesn't complete an orbit. Given the title is some type of space flight, it's still probably space armor. he may get in a portal or something

Sub-orbital spaceflight

Science! They got diagrams and everything!

Thanks a lot, science dudes. :woot: I guess I should have been more specific and said that the suit isn't capable of extended travel in outer space/deep space. You know, like the Mercury capsule could travel achieve suborbital space flight but couldn't go further.

It's possible that it isn't capable of deep space travel. At least when we first see it.

Rumors say that [BLACKOUT]Tony's Iron Legion gets wrecked in the final battle. He rebuilds the armor using vibranium, probably making it capable of deep space travel.
[/BLACKOUT]

Yes! That's exactly what I meant. The name implies that the suit can leave the atmosphere, but that it isn't capable of interstellar travel. Tony couldn't use it to leave the solar system, locate a wormhole and zip off to the other side of the universe. Yet. :cwink:

I wouldn't take the names nor, for that matter, the numberings from these promos for face value.

They really seem like made up numbers and titles and they contradict most of what we'v heard. Particularly, the Heartbreaker armor(s).

We have constantly heard that those armors are built towards the end of IM3. However, the recent promo would have us believe its the Mark 17, which would mean it was built a significant amount of time BEFORE IM3, considering he has 42 (maybe more) armors at the beginning of IM3.

I have no problem believing Heartbreaker is 17. It's one of the few so far that still contains his signature Red and Gold color scheme. And its got earthly, military application, leading me to believe he came up with the idea when he was in his early stages of future scenario prediction.

I'm really curious about this one.

Ahh Red Snapper's cool too. Yet to see any truly ugly ones, which is kind of amazing considering the quantity. I think out of all these, Gemini's my favorite though.

Some much beauty with all these armors.
Even the names are nerd-gasmic.
The designs are fantastic, let's hope we'll get to see every single one of them in action.

Yeah, the arms look similar to the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic powered rescue equipment.

They also remind me of those pincer hands used for handling radioactive materials.

I was trying to figure out why the pincers looked so familiar and that Jaws of Life is what I was thinking of.

Disaster rescue??? What does that mean?

Considering how much destruction the Chitauri invasion wrought in New York, my guess is that Tony was thinking of the massive rescue and cleanup effort that came afterwards. That suit could easily be used by search and rescue crews to remove debris and rubble as they sought to find victims underneath. One also assumes that the suit would be equipped with sensors that allow the operator to detect living victims under masses of debris, as well as to determine how stable the situation is. Between the Red Snapper and Igor, they might even be able to pull apart those space whale carcasses left all over the city.

maybe the hands are used to lift wrecked planes, ships, etc..hence disaster suit

lol the mark 35 looks kind of silly to me, but i will forgive that because of its specific functionality.

heartbreaker and silver centurion are my favourites out of the legion thus far.

Years ago I walked into a Sharper Image store and ran smack into a 7' tall Alien statue. The damn thing was so lifelike it scared the **** out of me. :woot: It cost $1800, which was also pretty scary.

If they ever made life-sized replicas of Iron Man's armors, it would actually be worth a couple grand to have one. I'm sure there would be at least a few takers. :word:

All these suits are making me look forward to The Art Of iron man 3 book even more.

come to think of it Tony keeps exploring into ways on how he's gonna suit up too much. His workhorse armor is still bulky and isnt one he can carry around in a suitcase much like in the comics. Mark V doesnt count coz its not his main armor.

Having a main suit that he can carry in a briefcase is still a little out there for him and the MCU without really fudging some realistic things on the weight and actual functionality.

Tony won't need a suitcase suit once he gets Extremis working. His suits will be available to him wherever he is and suiting up will be simple.

Exactly. His days of having to change his suits inside his mansion are over. I can't wait to see how the Extremis will alter him in the Avengers 2.

Actually the suitcase will houses the suit. He just asemble it onto his body with extremis.

Why would Tony need to carry the armor around in a suitcase when he can simply use Extremis to call it to him from wherever he left it, then jump right into it as he did in the trailer?

Because it will take a while to fly to him, he can carry it around in a crate where ever he travels so it will at least be closer
