The James Franco/ Harry Osborn Thread

Harry was the best, most interesting villain of the film.

Harry was dope in this movie. Probably the best villain overall seeing as how he got the most face time. My favorite part of the film is when he looks at Pete after he walks out of the coffee shop and winks at him with a huge grin on his face.

I wish instead of that butler scene...harry sees his father in the mirror, argues with him, and realizes that his dad was an evil bastard who probably deserved to die

For me, Harry put the movie to another level. Without him and his story arc, the movie wouldn't have worked as well. To me, he was the best thing in this movie.

I kind of wish that there was some explanation as to how he was hearing Norman's voice in SM2, like Norman was somehow giving him small dosages of the Goblin formula and it was effecting his mind.

But anyway, yes, Harry was my favorite character in the film, if not the series. He and Ock are neck and neck. As Harry said about the pie, Franco was "so good" in this movie. :cwink:

I really think Harry was great in this film,he acted like a villain. But he still cared for Peter and Mary Jane. This was his shining moment.

James Franco stole the entire trilogy for me, they should have put more effort into his conclusion however.

The third movie should have been about Harry & Peter with EVERYTHING else taking a back seat, as it was it felt like a sub plot that was resolved because it simply had to be.

i absolutley loved the memory loss, and maybe it was a little cheesy but the scene with Harry & Peter playing Basketball in the house was a brilliant "calm before the storm" moment, also it showed us what there relationship was like when they were innocent back long before Spider-man, The Green Goblin & his fathers death. for a few moments they were kids again, and this was the first time i really felt Peter's pain in whole trilogy.

my heart was literally breaking for Peter at this point, we saw eveything Peter had given up to become Spider-man.

it was one of very few moments that we saw Peter forget about all the drama and just enjoy having a friend, it was like a weight had been lifted. Really it makes me wish we saw more of them as friends in the first movie. it made Harry's conclusion so much more powerful, and for me was the best scene in all three of the movies.

without this harry's conclusion would not of meant half as much as it did, if we think in the first film we dont see alot of harry before he literally betrays Peter in going after Mary Jane, this made thier bond as firends seem much stronger and i think beneath it this is one of the reasons everyone liked Harry during the final battle so much.

In the final battle they were friends again, Peter was finally content with his life, eveytime i hear the line "go get her buddy" i smile, its one of those small moments during the epic stories that makes Spider-man great.

I loved Harrys concluding storyline in the film. I also loved how he and bernard had an emotional moent and he made Harry realize that Spidey was innocent and it was Norman who killed himself. In the first film Harrys story was great such as when him and his father talked about MJ and then Harry was sad that MJ left him. and then after that, Harrys farther died and Harry had to live with the death of his father. In Spidey2, Harry has his happy moments but only towards the beginning of the film, after Dr. Otto Octavious fusion machine blows up and Harry gets even more depressed. so after he finds out Spidey is Peter, Harry gets more depressed and then Norman sees him and tells him to avenge his father. Now in Spidey3 Harry goes after Peter but fails on his first attempt and gets amnesia. then Harry gets a visit from his fathers ghost and he forces MJ to break up with Peter. When I saw Harry and Spidey smile at the Battle Royal I was really happy to see them best freinds again. I thought the scene where Harry died was very sad and I think Harrys storyline in all three films was really awesome.

Harry's story in the movie was the best part of it. Without Harry's story, this movie doesn't work and it ends up as the least best of the series (I feel it was the second best of the series). I loved seeing them as friends. The amnesia story made me feel so bad because I knew he was going to be evil again, and seeing them as best friends showed us what it was like before Spider-Man and the Green Goblin came into the picture. Harry was the most diabolical villain of the movies too. By making MJ break up with Peter, and forcing Peter into the suit (where he eventually premanantly scars his friend and hits the women he loves), Harry hurts Peter worse than any of the other villains (except for maybe Venom for killing Harry). The part where Peter asks for his help was one of the best scenes, and I think the Bernard scene was logical and touching. This movie had me choked up when Harry was dying. Spec. 200 is one of my favorite comics ever, so I loved that scene. Also, Franco was fantastic in this. He had to portray a wide range of feelings in this movie, and he did all of them very well.

The movie should have been Peter vs Harry in the first fight with Harry almost killing him. Sandman vs Black Peter with Sandman losing. Then Peter getting revenge in the second fight with the Black suit and almost killing Harry. Then Harry and Sandman teaming up vs Black spidey. Then the same battle Royale we saw in the movie with the exception of Brock going to jail, the symbiote leaving, and Harry saving Peter from Venom, but dying fighting him instead of shielding peter with his body and getting impaled. 250 million can buy lots of things, but apparently can't buy a good script.

The best scene in the movie was when Harry shuts down his tv and is walking, and looking down to the floor concerned when Peter shows up. Peter asks him and he shows his scared face, and tells him that he doesn't deserve his help. That scene made me cry. You can clearly see Harry's unhappiness and even thought he had all the money in world, he was all alone. In the scene you can see in his face expression, that he would give all of his money just to be like Peter, and have a woman kidnapped who loved him that he could save. People think that Peter suffered, but Harry suffered more. He never fullfilled his father's expectations, lost his girlfriend to his best friend, lost his father, failed as a business man, got his face scared from his buddy and died tragically.

It wasn't tragic, It was A Nobel Heroic Death of Peter's best friend giving his life up for him . :cwink:

That is a cool looking statue,do they have any other pics to show the back side?

James Franco, who never particularly impressed me before, pretty much made Spider-Man 3. The only person in the movie who came even close to being as entertaining or engaging was Topher Grace. You take away those two and the movie is pretty much utter crap. With them, though... it's still a flawed movie, but rivals Spider-Man 2 and beats the first one in sheer entertainment value.

He had an AWESOME cameo in Spider-Man 3! He was in the film promoting Spider-Man 3!!!!!

That's awesome!

I saw Knocked Up and The Cameo by James was both funny & Cool , not to mention all the pimp Knocked Up did in promoting Spidey 3 .

That was the funniest **** I've seen since...well Knocked Up (well I watched Army of Darkness in the last few days so it's hard to say....)....

That video made me very happy. James Franco is a good actor. I think after doing some good early work in the James Dean movie, Freaks and Geeks and City by the Sea he catipulted himself too quickly into super stardom after Spider-Man with a bunch of B-leading men roles like Tristan and Isolde and Anapolis.

He really didn't impress me in those, but I think in SM3 he shows he got a real handle on it now and he stole the show. And when you are sharing the screen with Tobey Maguire that is hard to do (despite what some fanboys will say on this forum). I'm very impressed and hope to see a lot more of him in the future. Especially him and Apatow working together again with Seth Rogen in The Pineapple Express next year. I'm now making a point to see any comedy Apatow directs from now on.
