Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

I always took it as an Elseworlds tale the second the first trailer premiered. I don't know why some people are expecting this to be stick really close to comics' canon or for it to be definitive origin for the Joker. Like Todd Phillips said in one of his interviews in Venice, see it as one of the "multiple choice" stories that TKJ referenced.
Don't get caught up in it pal. It doesn't need repeating.

Those comments on that RT Fresh tweet are just....why do I do it to myself.

Jeremy Jahns spoiler free review has my hype all the way back up.

I don't expect general audiences to like it at all. They're going to go in expecting something else entirely
Yeah. General audiences don't go in to watch a movie about Batman's archnemesis expecting to /only/ get a depressing and violent view on the world for 2 hours with no light at the end of the tunnel.

If there was any sort of Batman tease at the end and they knew that it was gonna pay off that way, they'd forgive it a lot more but as it stands it's absolutely going to disappoint general audiences because they don't eat miserable ultra realistic content like this if it doesn't have what they consider a payoff.

Tomorrow at 4 PM I finally get the chance to see this. I'm hoping my theater gives out free posters
Me too! Mine usually gives out the IMAX poster, so we'll see.

I just think most are expecting the typical cbm, it'll be fun, etc, but it's more of an art-house indie film

American audiences

European are comfortable enough with themselves to watch and enjoy a study like this film

People need to stop making broad statements about what audiences want or don’t want. Even audiences don’t know.

if there was a magic formula, every film would be a hit. Fact is, we don’t know until we see it. And when you start sounding like a checklist of things people like, you sound like an uncreative studio exec.

The films that truly stand the test of time weren’t created with a checklist in mind.

I think, given the current US climate and the overreactions online about the movie, that it will probably have a big drop-off box office wise in the second week. Not as big as Invader Joker is suggesting, but I do think it will be something substantial. From what I gather, and with the one notable example of Blade Runner 2049 in mind, I personally don't think the American general audience will take well to the slow pace of this movie, among other things.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but I'm not that optimistic about it as of now. I definitely agree that European audiences will respond more positively to it.

Do y’all not get how HR and employment works?

You can go to a company and say what you want. And that company can decide to fire you or not. It’s been like that for years. I mean I don’t get the complaint? Do people really not understand that you can’t be hired and go say whatever you want and then say "it's a joke." In fact that's not just with employment.
Freedom of speech is not freedom of consequences and it’s really sad that people don’t seem to get that.

So what? Backlash isn’t new. I said this before. Roseanne Barr, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Andrew Dice Clay, Martin Lawnrece, and more all got backlash, protests, or got checked over their bits. All before the advent of Twitter.

There’s always been people get offended. Why whine about it now? Man up. Do what you do. Clearly being offensive isn’t hurting much, which was the point I and others were making by listing those show. Hell, Bill Burr is only a show being made by Disney after all his bits. Make your show. Some might be offended. If that bothers you or if you actually are in the wrong then apologize. If you don’t? Then keep doing your thing.

Don’t be a child and ***** and moan. I just can’t fathom being middle aged like some of these guys, getting paid hundreds of thousands (or even millions) and whining about “I can’t say certain words.” I used to complain about stuff like that when I was like 10

I don't understand this point of view. They get paid hundreds, so what? Thry got every right to be angry at how their market reacts. That's their ****ing job. They got every right to be mad at a bunch of idiots attacking their work. You can't just "ignore" backlash these days. The news on television, the internet... if you say a bad word, the media will be sure to make everyone know. It's a minority, yes, but it's a very loud minority. Just look at the backlash behind this movie and how the news and critics reacted to it.

Dropped to 78% Fresh again. Would be funny if this ends with the same score as Captain Marvel.

I asked myself that question too. Both Grace Randolph and Jeremy Jahns are nothing but clickbait, **** stirring youtubers that will do ANYTHING for clicks. like Jeremys recent star wars video filled with inaccuracies. I've lost a ton of respect for him.
Didn't now that about him. I have to admit i watch his videos but only sometimes. Not a fan or anything.

He's gotten progressively worse I think since the end of 2017. I recently learned he's friends with one of the most toxic people on youtube as well, but I won't name names. I find it incredibly disrespectful that he makes videos about star wars that are very inaccurate in order to rally his "anti disney" fans for views. At this point, he's not far off from making clickbait anti Brie Larson videos.

What’s your personal rating for this movie? As someone who’s avoided every detail, am i in for a shock?

Meh, they're both harmless. I never expected Jeremy to be perfect... he's just a dude that makes reviews, we seriously need to stop holding people at such a high standard. Everyone is gonna have opinions you agree with and disagree with.

Grace is terrible as a news source, but she's also an awful critic. She gave OUATIH a bad score out of bad faith and she gave Aladdin higher praise than The Irishman

And yet she likes this movie. So what?

Grace Randolph spoils movies before they even come out in the US...arming every troll on the internet with the power to harm our movie-going experience. No studio should give her early access to their films.

Well it's not always just about opinions. The problem with these people are they take topics and feed the portion of the base that is incredibly toxic, as well as even racist. They know exactly what they are doing, and they have no qualms about it. They'll take blatant conspiracy theories that are clearly wrong, and try to spread them as facts. Grace Randolph loves to play both sides at the same time, and quite frankly she's a nut job. She hates Jessica Chastain for reasons we still have yet to know

But anyway, I'm getting off topic

Stop.

No one got offended. People pointed out what Todd Phillips said was stupid and factually incorrect. Pointing out that someone is wrong isn't being "offended"

And for what it's worth, and I mean no offense, THe Vile One dislikes most things. I wouldn't take his reaction as anything

That's kind of BS, but whatever.
