Ledger had eyeliner and wore lipstick
Obligatory reminder these films are made for a global audience and most countries out there are not as advanced as America in terms of those types of social issues and don't share the same sensibilities. By in large I think it'd play as well as it always has and even in America you wouldn't get much complaints aside from the super SJW Twitter idiots. In 2020, that might not play well.
Yeah, but it was messy enough that it didn't really look effeminate. I'm talking about that TDKR/Gotham kind of look, where the lipstick is very neatly applied, cleaner look overall, etc.Ledger had eyeliner and wore lipstick
What???wowee
Some of this thread has turned into a big oofWhat???
I think even going further with romantic undertones of Batman & Joker's relationship would also be interesting
Fan outrage? The Joker's always acted that way. I doubt he genuinely feels attracted to Batman or anyone in general, but it's not completely OOC for him.Never in a million years. The fan outrage would be insane.
He literally sang romantic songs to Batman in the Arkham games and pretty much all fans loved that.Never in a million years. The fan outrage would be insane.

Now, if you're talking about Batman acknowledging/reciprocating those feelings, THEN we have a problem.
I don't think many people take that very seriously. I don't know why would someone want to see a Joker whose actually romantically interested in Batman. He literally sang romantic songs to Batman in the Arkham games and pretty much all fans loved that.
Yeah, he's not genuinely attracted to Batman the way a normal person would be. He's obsessed with him in a very self-serving wayI don't think many people take that very seriously. I don't know why would someone want to see a Joker whose actually romantically interested in Batman.
Well, I think that's the more effective way to interpret it than just another "villain-hates-hero-and-tries-to-kill-them" relationship, but yeah, I think it was The Dark Knight Returns that rewrote Joker as being fixated on Batman.Always? Is that right? I think it was only at the tail end of the '80s that that interpretation/dynamic between the two started to become fashionable. I could be wrong though.
I'd say it's more of a bruh moment. Redditors have milked the whole "big (x)" thing for all its worth IMOSome of this thread has turned into a big oof

The last good Joker was Jack Nicholson. There , I said it . I'd like a good ,old -fashioned Joker who doesn't care about "society", " caos", or " getting what you deserve"... I want an old murderous prankster.
