The Joker Thread - Part 1

I'd rather see a good Joker instead of Leto Joker. We can't always get what we want ;) .

Ryan Gosling was the original choice, I sort of wish we would've gotten him instead of Leto.

It still would have been the same Joker. Just with Gosling playing him

You don't know that. Leto had a lot of say in the portrayal.

And also the problem wasn't necessarily the tattoos or grills, it was in the very performance that Leto gave. The unnatural voice and the terrible laugh.

Can't help but feel they missed out on not casting Willem Defoe

They have an older Batman, he would have been great as an older Joker. He could have been locked in Arkham in a Hannibal Lector style role

I like Leto and (most) of what he brought but no, Gosling would've gave something far different. And without all of the dumb **** behind the scenes.

I just watched Split and I gotta say, I think James Mcavoy would absolutely knock The Joker out of the park . I don't wanna place spoilers on here for anyone that hasn't seen it but he was very intense and sinister and he bounced back and forth in a way that I could The Joker being . That being said I didn't hate Leto as Joker just felt he was pretty much shoehorned in the movie and his only reason for being there was to explain Harley and chase her through the movie . I also didn't like Wallers line about Harley being crazier than the Joker , that's just not how it should be . Leto did have moments of creepy and sinister in her performance that I thought worked .

God I love "Split". James McAvoy is a fantastic actor, and his role in Split made me love the movie so much more. I'd kill for him and Fassbender to be in the DCEU as Batman villains. (Watching Fassbender in Alien: Covenant fueled my desire to see him as a villain in the DCEU)

Gah what're we gonna do about Leto. Something has to be changed. It sucks. All of us want a big role for Joker in the DCEU but that performance was wack. I'm just wondering where he'll next pop up. Surely he's going to make another appearance soon.

Hard to say...gotta imagine they're desperately trying to figure out how to work themselves out of the corner they're in. Honestly, if he's going to keep up with the dumb **** he did during SS, I'd rather we not even see anymore of the Joker in the DCEU.

He was so good in Split and that last few minutes with the lighting and the blood on his lips just really sold me on him playing The Joker , like I think he could deliver the Joker in a way that captures all the different variations of the Jokers personality

1. That's arguable.

2. Just because she says it doesn't make it true.

When she says this, she's trying to sell Harley as an effective disposable member of Task Force X based on her more intense traits.

How is it arguable?

She didn't have to lie or exaggerate about any of the other members of the Squad in this scene, so why would is this line a lie?

This scene was the exposition to the audience about the characters. This was the audience being told this Harley is crazier than the Joker.

Yes - because Amanda Waller is always known for truth justice and the american way.

It's almost a guarantee that Joker will pop up somewhere in Gotham City Sirens, even if he isn't a main character. It would be sort of lame if alll they did was a
first season Supergirl type thing, where Joker is mentioned and is seen in the shadows, but we never actually see his face, like they did with Superman.

By that stupid logic, everything she says about the other members of the squad is invalid and shouldn't be believed either.

I definitely want to see more joker in future DCEU movies and I want Leto to return.
He's a good actor, he just needs better writing and better direction.
His joker needs a bigger role and a few tweaks.

My main problems with his joker are
1.His obsession with Harley.
He seems to be in love her.
That.......that's just not something that I care for :funny:

2. Stuff like him owning a club and having vanity plates. :funny:
That just kinda makes it seem like....he's out in the open? batman should have been after him before he shot Monster T in his club.

For his appearance
I really like the flashiness and outfit changes.
But I think they could be done in a better way.
Ditch the chains and button up his damn shirts.
MORE PURPLE

The tattoos I don't mind very much.
Especially the ones on his body(Well, other than "Joker" across his stomach..)
but they should probably be ditched.
They don't add anything to character and I think most people dislike them.
Get rid of them
no explanation needed

I feel like WB will push for the inclusion of Joker in this movie if isn't already in Reeves plans.
I'm sure they wanna turn things around for one of their top money makers as soon as possible.
Fixing it now to build more hype for him in the future would be the right choice.

yep, did you see the trailer for that death note movie?

I think there's still alot of potential in Leto as the joker
but
I was definitely thinking about Defoe being the joker while watching the death note trailer. :funny:

It's weird to say that you want an older joker to match batman though, since Leto is a year older than Ben. :funny:

Leto drinks from the fountain of youth so it doesn't count.

I love that though.
Imagine how frustrating that would be to Batman. :funny:
Spending so many years dealing with him and him just...showing no real sign of age.
