The Joker Thread - Part 1

What kind of hairstyle would you fine people like? Swept back, pompadour, side part, slicked-back like Leto and Bowie, or something else?

Killing joke style + Cesar Romero color(maybe not quite that light but 70%).

I'm not too particular when it comes to his hair, as it really depends on the overall aesthetic. Ledger had an overall grungy appearance, and so his hair was suitably messy. The Joker's hair will reflect his general style.

What I like about the Gotham Central hairstyle is it's an unusual cut that you wouldn't see today, the way the hair forms a fin in the back. It feels very much of a bygone era.

In a previous post, I was reminded of Salvador Dali

I think I just don't want a "cool" Joker, or one that is overly stylized. I see the Joker as being a man who lives on the edges of society, someone who owns a single suit, and shoes with holes in the sole, and an old comb in his breast pocket.

I feel like he's the type of person who cares about appearances; I'd like him to have a few suits that seem both like they're from a bygone era but could easily be worn today. Of course, a few other suits could be modern and colorful.

A combination of Arthur Fleck's more formal getups and Leto Joker's flashy aesthetic would be ideal to create some older-looking outfits with bright colors and maybe even some weird patterns

Marvel United posted these photos previously, but I'd like to echo the suggestion of this Joker having sickly pale skin to make it a little more realistic. It'd also provide an interesting contrast to his (hopefully) stylish and/or colorful suits:View attachment 34293 View attachment 34294
This also has me thinking about the smile. Every Joker has had an element that accented his smile - Nicholson had a permanent grin, Ledger had glasglow smile and Leto had grills.

I wonder if an unnaturally wide smile like this would be possible to achieve on film

I'd say find an actor like Michael Fassbender that can naturally give a wide smile similar to this. The hair here is also more what I was thinkin style-wise. So maybe more long/wavy with curls at the end. Either way, just more bold than we've seen before.

I'd say find a balance between cartoony and creepy. And I agree with Nygma; just find someone with a naturally big smile and/or use contouring in the makeup to accentuate certain parts of his face like the cheekbones, chin, SMILE, etc

Fassbender does have a good smile for Joker. I've always thought Hugo Blick (young Napier) was a dead ringer for Bolland's Joker as well

Maybe a Joker with rotting teeth i.e Captain Spaulding:

Would create a disturbing contrast with his well-kept suits and hair

I think the veiny pale skin would do that job better as I feel like he'd want his smile to look good. However, I LOVE the idea of his face looking pretty ugly to provide a contrast with his suits and possibly his hair too.

If we’re making Rob Zombie comparisons, look no further than Richard Brake’s Doomhead in 31

Personally after Ledger and Phoenix were both fairly icky looking, I’d prefer a more debonair and clean Joker for something different.

With Ledger we more or less already had the “fancy clothes but nasty-looking” deal.

Ehh, not really IMHO. His clothes still looked pretty homely to me, but maybe it was just the darker colors that made them look that way. Still, I'd like his face to be pretty creepy, but with clean teeth and a fancy haircut, and wearing stylish, colorful suits

With all the live-action Joker actors we've had on film since Ledger, I'm surprised we still haven't gotten a live-action adaptation of Mark Hamill's BTAS/DCAU Joker - i.e., one that's properly perma-white, well-dressed, well-kept, and both scary and funny. Pattinson's Batman seems like it's going to echo BTAS's Batman in a lot of ways (along with the Batman from the 2004 "The Batman" series), so it'd be nice to finally get a Joker that echoes the BTAS Joker. I'm not sure who could play that type of role though, he'd certainly have to be similar in age to Pattinson for me though (30s).

Maybe he can be inspired by the BTAS Joker, but I'm not sure about a direct adaptation because it could come off as forced and cringey. Like the MK vs DC Joker with his "I will defeat you Batman, MUAHAHA!!" But if done right, if he's scary and funny, even just to himself, then that would be very interesting to see onscreen.

I’d put it this way.....his clothes looked like they were nice at one time, but now they’re obviously dirty and probably reek from having his gross unwashed self inhabiting them probably 24/7.

Ledger's wardrobe is actually pretty elaborate and fancy (and fairly comic accurate or a close enough approximation), but you can see the dirt on them.

Also definitely not good dental hygiene. And definitely not good hygiene in general.

This time around I'd like for him to wear jackets or blazers. No more trenchoats for the majority of his screentime. I've said this before, but I REALLY liked Doomsday Clock Joker's outfit
