The Joker Thread - Part 1

Too bad Michael Keaton is back as Batman, they should have gone with him as Joker.

I feel like Beetlejuice is the closest we'll get, and I'm oddly fine with that. And of course, we have American Psycho with Bale.

A small set of people wanted that back in the TDK casting days. Nowhere near as plentiful nor as vocal as the crowd who wanted Hamill and were... Strangely offended by anyone else in the role.

I feel like a live-action Hamill Joker with the voice and everything would be kinda cringe ngl

It seems unlikely to me at the moment that we'll be getting the Clown Prince of Crime characterization-wise.

So...how would you guys feel about stylish mass-murderer?

It seems he was manufacturing a Joker drug so I'm thinking a zero year red hood Joker is likely for the GCPD show

I just hope that show actually looks good and not cheap, like Gotham or Agents of SHIELD. The fact that it's connected to The Batman gives me hope that it won't look like a soap opera, though so I'm a bit interested.

It’s HBO, Terrence Winter. Nuff said.
Yeah. I just hope it's visually striking from a cinematography standpoint; that's a must for me with any drama show. There are too many shows on TV right now that look like soap operas.

After seeing The devil all the time, I think Harry Melling could be a pretty good Joker!

I always felt like Gotham and AoS, after a while, came off as soap opera type shows in the writing and basic direction. It looked and felt like your basic cable drama show, but with superheroes.

Visually, they didn’t wow me. We’ll have to see about this, but I’m imagining something like most HBO crime dramas; rarely ugly or cheap.

My little "rule" is this: if you're going to be making a drama, then go all the way with it. This includes cinematography. Even Barry still looks like a TV show, but at least they do something interesting with the presentation.

Yeah I feel you. Tapping Fraser for this would be big. He’s done a high-budget series (Mando) and the cinematography is the only thing I hear about that show outside of baby Yoda. Lol

Since they're already doing the "twisted letter to a friend" thing with Riddler, how do you think they could make Joker different?

I'm trying to think of ways a mass-murderer Joker with connections could work without having him "expose society" or whatever (as interesting as that can be).

I guess they COULD theoretically make him a classy terrorist, but unlike, say, Charles Manson, he takes absolute glee in his actions and doesn't have any delusions about himself like starting a race war or anything like that. Just vain, hedonistic mayhem for its own sake.

Sacha Baron Cohen is maybe one of the only actors that actually trained and earned a degree in clown. Could ad an interesting element to it. His loom is pretty good for Joker too.

I like him, but.....eh. Not really something I NEED to see.
