Recast for 3. Heath's not the only one who can play Joker. It'll be fine. Maybe they can get someone this time who's right for the part.

Yeah I think the third will be left with the ultimate cliffhangers. Maybe hint at a Ras return. Or have all the "freaks" of Gotham in one room like "in the long Halloween. There should be a Joker in the third.

This is the way BB3 should have been if Heath wouldn't died

Two Face is left mad and scarred at Gotham, he wants to kill The Joker and Batman for reasons we don't know till close the end
Catwoman's the new member to the cast, played by Charlize Theron, Keri Russell, or Angelina Jolie, she is investigating Batman for a mob boss really close to her, and Selina Kyle starts falling in love with Bruce Wayne
And the damn thing that is now imposible to happen:cmad: , The Joker meets Harleen Millerr at Arkham Asylum (Cristina Ricci) seduces her and helps him scape

So let's just say that the Joker was going to be in the 3rd and Heath Ledger's performance turns out to be beyond incredible (which I predict). How can the next actor win everybody over? Because obviously he will mostly be critiqued on his performance compared to Ledger's. That's why I believe a lot of people including Joseph Gordon-Levitt would turn the role down.

that's why i suggested oscar nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal if they have to recast. not only is his face more suited for Joker's, he also got that oscar nomination for Brokeback Mountain (also starring Heath Ledger) and was Christopher Nolan's 2nd choice for Batman/Bruce Wayne. i'm sure Nolan would like to work with Jake Gyllenhaal at some point considering he's already worked with his sister for the Dark Knight. not to mention Jake Gyllenhaal shares a lot of the same intensity and drive in acting that Ledger did.

In a way I would love to see that happen but I think Depp would be a
pretty good replacment but I choose move on to other charcters

Recast. Joker is too good to limit to one movie. It's not disrespectful to Ledger to recast him.

I think no actor will want the role, imagine that pressure to fill Ledger's shoes. I would like JGL though.

I wonder how you know Heaths not right for the part having not seen the film yet. I get that you may not like his look or what you have seen in the trailers so far but even if they did recast him in the third it would be silly if they had the same cast and director with someone else portraying the Joker in a completely different way to Heaths. It would not make sense.

Indeed' and the role of The Joker has rather more kudos than that of Dumbledore.

Like no one wanted Dumbeldore's role after Richard Harris died?

ah its a little different. Harris died from old age, Ledger's was more of a tragic passing.:whatever:

We shall see I guess, If they do recast, I certainly want Joseph Gordon Levitt

Completely agree.

Harris died of old age, and Dumbledore was 100% necessary in every way to the series, he had to be in the following films, writing him out of following sequels was impossible. And when Michael Gambon took over the role they changed the character around in performance, personality, and look. If you don't mind the film continuity skewing as it did with Harry Potter, then sure, recast! That wouldn't be the best of ideas, the only other thing would be to have someone else do a cheap imitation of Heath, and that just won't do either. Which is why I just say leave the character out of movie three.

i think recasting heath is a real slippery slope, but if was essential to the plot of #3, if their was much of one yet, than I think Daniel Day Lewis is perfect, not that I think he'd take it, but just doing some pencil studies, they have very similar facial features, and both Bill the Butcher and Daniel Plainview have very Heath Joker-esque mannerisms... again, I tihnk it's near impossible that he'd take the role on the off chance it were offered, but that's my 'in a perfect world' pick, of course, in ym perfect world, Heath wouldn't be dead and people would be all around smarter, but, whadaya gonna do?

Death is death. The circumstances of their deaths are irrelevant By the time they recast the shock of Heath's death will be long gone.

Oh please, I think it's a bit tougher to perform as the Joker than as Dumbledore.
Heath wasn't the only actor who could play Joker.

Again... no one was expecting Joker to have a MAJOR part even if Ledger was alive and came back for a third... we just have to see how TDK ends... that's the million dollar question... I almost want to know so bad that I have thought about delving into the spoiler forum (not that anyone knows for sure)... but I promised myself I wouldn't do that this go around... we'll find out eventually though.

I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the role of Joker like Heath, but if comes to the point where Joker is indeed needed, I could actually imagine James Franco for the role.

Now, I know he's already played Harry from SpiderMan, but at this point it doesn't really matter due the fact that he died in the third film and also that the third film sucked. Sure, he'll have to disguise his voice (if possible) and basically act exactly like Joker, but he's the only guy I can think of who sorta has the same facial structure and almost exact nose as Heath.

Exactly. When I thought of Franco, I was also thinking about that Dumbledore recast. Franco could have the similar look but can create his own version of the Joker rather than trying to act the role the way like Ledger.

I'm sure everyone would agree that Johnny Depp would be a safe choice but would he be worth the obvious boatload amount of mula he'd be asking for. Even if it were a smaller role compared to tdk.

Jack Nicholson's Joker supposally couldn't be topped, but now everyone thinks Ledger has a chance to win an award for playing Joker. There is bound to be someone who can play him very well. I'm not saying he's got to top Ledger's performance or even be equal. He just has to be good. Put on an above average performance. It doesn't have to be fantastic, but it needs to be pretty good. There are people out there who can do that.
