The Dark Knight Rises The Joker's Role in the Third Film

Because I'm sure Nolan felt a lot of pressure to include Robin and Batgirl from Batman and Robin in his first Batman movie too.

I'm assuming the next Batman movie won't be made eight years after B3 and won't be a full-blown reboot.

I rewatched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight back-to-back last night for fun (quite an interesting thing to do... I've never watched them back to back before and it was an interesting comparison..) Any ways, I didn't feel at all that the Joker had to make a reappearance by the time The Dark Knight was over. I felt he had done all he could do in Gotham and his story was over.

At the end I felt as though things would get worse and worse.

Like it was destined to happen forever.

I personally felt that two face shouldn't have died and that he was jokers ace in the hole.

He could do more damage than ever, now redeem batman, and have batman finally become the white knight of Gotham.

Although I would lve to see an appearance of joker from his arkham residence.

I feel Joker's story could carry on,but doesnt have too. Cause every villain has a purpose,and the way the Joker executed his was amazing. He turned Harvey,Harvey has caused trouble for Batman,now he is paying for Harveys crimes.

They have left a lasting impression. Joker has showed us how brilliant he was,but the question is...Can he surpass what he did before? Can he create more trouble that is difficult for everybody to comprehend?

I think Two-Face still has a purpose as well.

He was my first choice way back before Ledger was cast...from both a facial features and acting perspective. I think for a more 'traditional' Joker look, Brody would be a great choice.

That would be interesting, but I do agree with Rodrigo in saying that he should only be mentioned. For example, Gordon stating that "since he's been locked away in Arkham" that all the crazies have been following his example =)

I still think he should have a pivotal role in the next film. It is possible to really bring Joker's motives from TDK to the third movie and barely show him. They can use some scenes that were left out of TDK for this. ( That's probably why there isn't an edition out there with extended scenes.)

I can't help but think of Fincher's ZODIAC film. How powerful that character was, but yet he was barely shown in the movie?

Have Riddler motivating where Dent left off. But Riddler is actually manipulating even the Joker.

This is exactly why he should come back. The Joker is one of the greatest characters in pop culture. If the third film ends Nolan's time with Batman, let him go out with a bang. There is no way it can go out with a true bang if you leave out the his greatest enemy, possibly the greatest character in comic book history. Joker is bigger than Heath. He doesn't die with Heath.

Yup. Joker is the jelly to Batmans peanut butter. Batman with out Joker is like cereal with no milk. a Batman 3 without Joker would be like waking up all excited about a big bowl of Sugar Smacks and reaching for the milk to find some idiot only left a swallow in the container. Joker without Batman is like a BLT with no mayo...no flava. It's like ordering chinese food only to find they didn't throw in any sauce. It's like a hamburger with no ketchup. The Joker is great and all but we already had a movie with him, and he was great in it. So i had my fill. Time for a new villain. Just because they re gonna be doing it forever, it doesnt mean that they have to be doing it every day. There are other great villains to use, Riddler, Freeze, Catwoman, Ivy, etc being some of them.

Two-Face returning would make TDK's ending pointless.

They have this emotional ending with this sad music, but they're just faking the memorial service because he is actually alive. And then he'll break out of Arkham and go on a killing spree again. And then random Gotham citizen will go "But wait, Harvey Dent is a killer now? Didn't Batman kill those people?" (Also, they used that back-from-the-dead device for Gordon in TDK)

His story was told in TDK. It covered the full rise and fall of Harvey Dent. There's nothing left to tell with him. He only became a reckless villain because he was inspired by revenge. Do you really think this Two-Face is going to start committing crimes by 2's randomly?
