Ok, i've had enough of these crappy Video Game to film translations.
Why is it always the Uber-violent ones BTW? There are so many better games that deserve to be translated to film.
The big grand-daddy of all Epic games deserves it the most.
But who should Direct it?
Who should play Three of the most iconic characters in Video game history?

If they don't make a two part version (like Kill Bill volume I and II) of The Ocarina of Time then I will finally realize that all intelligent thought has been drained from Bollywood.

Nah, Ocarina of time should come later.
It should be the original story.
But yeah, a two part version of OOT would work. in the first half he is a kid, the second half he is an adult, then a kid again.

That'd be pretty cool, although the storyline would need to be streamlined and tweaked to be more interesting.

Technically speaking, OOT is the original story. Not the one for the NES, but it is a prequel/origin take on the Zelda legend. It's one of the most popular video games of all time as well. So why not make a movie about it? It's perfect.

The first volume could be about Links search for the three stones and ends with his transition into the future world as an adult. The second film is where the s**t hits the fan. Two Christmas release. Two theatrical cut DVD's. Two Extended Edition DVD's. The one Full Cut DVD where the two volumes are made into one.

Ok, yeah, The story is much more complex and much more interesting. and Zelda would have a bigger role if it was this way (Shiek).
It would look similar to LOTR, but will not have as big a cast, until the second film.

I rather have an anime motion pictured instead of a crappy over-star studded live action Hollywood movie. Some vg movies just shouldn't be live action (coughMetroidcough).

nah, not everyone likes anime(me) and would rather see a 2 1/2 hour epic. And my Idea is to have a small cast a first, and most being new people, like Link and Zelda. It can work, as long as it's put in the right hands(mine).

LOTR wasn't really star-studded?

They couldn't afford it!

yeah, the people who are in it are star now because of it. most were unknown or minor people.

Nah, let someone else worthy of it direct it.

ok, now i've got a better idea than i had before.
Young link won't ne as young as he was in the beginning of OOT, he'll be around 13 or 14. and he'll go about 8 years to the future.
It would just seem wierd to see an eight year old fighting a giant dinosaur.
It works in the game, but i'm not sure it would work on film.

Me and my brothers came up with a treatment that we liked for a Zelda movie, and it would be loosely based on Ocarina of Time. I say loosely because the story would be quite different, it would bring in elements from other games in the series, and it would also not have any time travel. Here's the basic premise.

-----------------------------------------

The 10 year old Princess Zelda shares a special friendship with a peasant boy named Link, who lives outside of the castle walls. They seldom see eachother due to royal customs, but they still share a close bond none-the-less. They aren't entirely sure why, but they believe that they are somehow connected after they discovered they share a similar birthmark-- it's a variation of the triforce symbol, but their marks are on opposite hands and in reverse from eachother. Nether knows what they mean, but Zelda had been told to keep hers a secret-- but when she saw Link's, she had to share it with him.

One night however, the evil prince of the western desert lands, Ganondorf, with his band of thieves infiltrates Hyrule castle and takes over, slaying the king and all those who get in there way. On this same night, Link has snuck inside to see the Princess, and fearing for her safety he tries to find her. However, she has already dissapeared, a long with her caretaker Impa. Link gets caught by Ganondorf, and despite his scrappy spirit, gets whooped to the floor. Before Ganon can kill him however, his hand is stayed by his second-in-command and lover, the beautiful Narybu. She appears take pity on the boy and convinces Ganon to let him live, and when he sees the mark on the boy's hand, he agrees not to kill him... And instead, sends him to a dungeon to rot.

We cut ahead seven years, and we find a bearded, dirty looking young adult Link, in the wet and foul-smelling stone dungeons of Hyrule. He's been noticeably toughened up by these living conditions, and he needs it since he seems to constantly get into fights with the other prisoners-- and although he doesn't seem to start most of them, he always finishes them. One night though, he can feel an intense heat on his hand. His birthmark feels almost like it's burning! He examines his pathetic existance, and decides that he can't hide behind stone walls waiting for death any longer. He hatches a plan for escape, utilizing the mechanism that the guards use to feed the prisoners. He gets ahold of a sword and fights his way out, and thinks he's finally free...

Until he sees how the world has changed in the seven years he was gone. Ganondorf is now the merciless king of Hyrule, and the people are opressed and without hope. He learns from a wise elder that the source of Ganon's power cannot be defeated by mortal strength alone, and that Hyrule's only hope lies within the blade of the Master Sword. Link vows that he will find the sword and overthrow Ganon, and put the rightful heir on the throne. To find the sword he must face great perils, and join forces with three other enemies of Ganondorf... The mighty Goron cheftan Darunia, the fair Zora maiden Ruto, and the mysterious shadow warrior Shiek-- who comes from an order devoted to Hyrule's royal family.

Will Link find the master sword, destroy ganon, save the princess, and free his people? Duh.

Yay, that's my plot idea, at least. ^_^

I say Zelda done by Pixar. Screw live action.

^ I like that idea, but now that Pixar is owned by Disney, it wouldn't be done right. I don't think Disney would let them give it the mood, and tone that the series is famous for. If anything, they would probably adapt WW.

I think ILM could do a good job with the special effects, so hand that over to them. I also believe Peter Jackson would be a good choice for director. He's proven that he does an Academy Award-winning job making a movie set in a fantasy kingdom.

If this is gonna be live action, Link and Zalda have to be relative unknowns. They could cast a star for Ganondorf.

I would love for a live action Zelda movie but I would be equally happy with an animated film. OOT could be awesome! I like the idea of splitting it in two and having one focus on Young Link and the other focus on Adult Link and the latter half of the game.. But I also like the idea Timstuff came up with, I think some tweaking would have to be done with an OOT film and think that idea would work quite well..

How about Craig T. Nelson for Ganondorf and for director, instead of Peter Jackson, how about Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean)...

Pixar are much higher in the ranks at Disney now, they pretty much can do whatever they want. So that point is moot.

And I agree it should be animated, but not CGI or far out anime. It should be drawn the way it's drawn in the instruction manuals and posters. Slightly japanese inspired but not as outlandish as anime.

who wouldn't want a movie that looks like that?

As much as I'd love to see a Zelda movie, I'm more than content with there not being one. I mean, we've already got a bad Castlevania movie on the way... no need to run another classic game into the ground onscreen. I've heard that Uwe Bollsh**t wants to direct Zelda. If that's true, then God help us all. Because for some reason, videogame companies keep allowing hacks like him and Paul W.S. Andersuck to direct their properties. So whichever one of those two schmucks gets the rights to direct Zelda (which probably WILL happen, I'm sad to say) get ready to see Kristanna Loken as Zelda, Jason Statham as Link, and Burt Reynolds as Gannon.

In all fairness, Paul WS Anderson looks like Orson Welles next to Uwe Boll.

Maybe, but in the immortal words of Mr. Cranky (when discussing comparisons between the Aeon Flux movie and the Catwoman movie), "that's like comparing cat sh** to elephant sh**."
