If he wasnt cast as SpiderMan would you have had Tobey Maguire? I know it would never happen.
I know joaquin pheonix's name had been brought up before I think we can safely take his name off the list on account that he is crazy now

He's pulling a Kaufman. I have no doubt of this.
I think it's clever. I bet more people watch the movie than had he been sane. He's pulling a Kaufman. I have no doubt of this.
I agree. British accents often sound vaguely old-fashioned and therefore suit those kind of movies better than accents from the "New World". Using actors with Nordic accents would be a bit more problematic. An all Scandinavian cast might not be able to sell a big American summer-blockbuster* and the actors would have to be fluent enough to express themselves naturally in english. That is also a problem is you try to have American/British actors use a Nordic accent, they might not sound as convincing and impressive as they would with their own natural accent. And I think that more important than historically accurate accent (whatever that is in this case) is for the actors to be able to give gravitas to that almost poetic way of speaking that Asgardians are often portrayed having. In that sense a Thor-actor has indeed more in common with someone playing King Arthur than Swedish Chef.English accents have long been a cinematic shorthand through a whole range of historical epics and fantasies. It's an all-purpose accent that seems to fit into a whole range of contexts.
definitely the loki costume they should use in my opinion

But, we also got some other information about the villain in the story, Thor's brother Loki.
Loki isn't a very nice guy. He's quite treachorous actually and fancies himself the God of Mischief. He is repeatedly trying to get rid of Thor and seize the throne of Asgard for himself. One thing led to another and he ended up being the God of Evil. What will his role in Marvel's live action adaptation? Probably something similiar, we know he's the main baddie.
Who does Brannagh want to bring this evil character to life? Try Josh Hartnett. IESB sources say Hartnett has met with Brannagh as well and he is currently on a very short list to play the villain in the film.
Word is Josh and his camp are really interested because he has never played a villain before and after Heath Ledger's Oscar win for the latest comic book villain, Hartnett is intrigued by the character.
Now, for those of you who will copy and paste this article faster than a barefoot jackrabbit on a hot greasy griddle in the middle of August, pay attention to this part - we aren't saying he's been cast, but he's on a very short list for the role of Thor's brother Loki. Got it? Short list.
Hartnett standing at 6 foot 3 inches would be a great adversary to Alex's 6 foot 4 inch frame.
Could this be another Heath Ledger's Joker in the making? Are actors taking the superhero films more serious because of Ledger's Oscar win?
I know that there are a lot of Hartnett haters out there, but I actually kind of like the idea of Hartnett as Loki
