The Loki Thread

I think Hartnett will do a fine job as Loki should he get the role

I'm buying this. JH is tall, well built, and is younger than Skaars, after all in the movie Loki is younger than Thor.

The script also described Loki as darkly handsome and JH is not a bad actor.

My vote is still for Jonthan Rhys Meyers.
Fassbender is a great actor, but I would like him as Balder.
Hartnett? I'd like him more as a hero than as a villain.

let´s wait and see. I´m not a big fan of Hartnett (anyone who played in Pearl Harbor should be forbidden to reappear on screen forever) but maybe this could work. I would have preferred someone with the range or acting skills of Tim Roth or Jeff Bridges.

he made up for pearl harbor with black hawk down in my book but on to hartnett i think he could be a good loki hes got the look and the acting chops

no, Jason Isaacs is Namor.
Jason Issacs is Doctor Strange!

I saw a little of Elektra on Tv the other day and didn't even notice he was in the movie. I didn't remember him being in it the first time I saw the film. His American accent was good IMO, Even his southern American accent in Black Hawk Down was good and southern accents are the ones most british actors tend to suck at doing.
Thor is hardly the only character of foreign descent to be portrayed speaking in an English accent. Simply look at any Shakespeare adaptation, stories set all over Europe, yet the characters almost always talk in English accents. English accents have long been a cinematic shorthand through a whole range of historical epics and fantasies. It's an all-purpose accent that seems to fit into a whole range of contexts.
Its funny you guys mentioned the accent thing because Kenneth Branagh starred and produced Wallander where he played the swedish detective. Him and most of the people in the show was british and kept their own accents but it was filmed in sweden. The characters even still had their swedish names from the books.
My vote is still for Jonthan Rhys Meyers.

Jonthan Rhys Meyers would make an awesome Loki. He was great as the machavalian Steerpike in ghormanghast and as the creepy cult leader in Octane.

Fassbender would be awsome too another Irish man and good up and coming actor his Bobby Sands in Hunger is incredible.

Not to sure what to think about the Hartnett rumors and not to keen on his ability to portray Loki the way I imagined him. The voice actor from the Hulk Vs. Thor movie is the way I've always imagined him to sound like and Josh seems real low key. Definately outside the box here.

Jason Issacs would be a great choice for Loki, unlike Hartnett. Also Vincent Cassel is another great choice for Loki:

Hartnett I don't think he can capture Loki and I hope they don't pick him.

I dont think he can capture a human being he has no range and is the most wooden actor out there he talks in that same monotone voice through every movie

I know that there are a lot of Hartnett haters out there, but I actually kind of like the idea of Hartnett as Loki

As long as Brannagh can get a good performance out of him, then I'm ok with it. I'm in no way a Harnett fan but he seems to be one of those actors who's only as good as the guy directing him. So hope exists. Still wanted Bettany for the role, though.

If Hartnett is Loki there will be repercussions

I dunno. The reaction thus far hasn't been as angry as I might have expected. Maybe after Heath Ledger, more people are willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt?

^ Look at the guy's sig. He just wants Hartnett for Hal :oldrazz:

I feel that Hartnett's generally failed at becoming a leading man and more legitimate performer for a reason.

I'm all for Vincent Cassel as Loki eventhough he is also one of my Riddler picks. He rocked in Eastern Promises!

Some of you forget or just aren't aware that Thor and Loki are to be pretty young in this film, as in their 20's (If they were human) so the obvious choices for Loki are out.

I think Skaars and Hartnett match up nicely.

This pair is sort of giving me that Troy vibe... Bana vs Pitt. I think it's important you get a guy that is around the same age. Any other relative "big names" that are late twenties/early thirties? Gyllenhaal doesn't fit the role... Rhys Meyers isn't imposing enough... I just think you need to find that niche. Maybe Loki will be it for JH.

This casting rumor of Hartnett for Loki seems wrong at face value but maybe Branagh sees something in him he can work with.

i think we're gona be suprised by hartnett. supposedly his role in O was one of the things that help put him on brannagh's mind. I haven't seen the movie, but he looks pretty decent in the trailer. im not all out supporting him for the role, but i'm definetely open to being suprised. I trust brannagh, that's all i can say

Loki always looks older than Thor in the comics, so I have no problem with Vincent Cassel playing the role at age 42. He is after all a Giant, and not a true God like Thor. Vincent's wife would be the perfect Hela as well::wow:

Harnett is a left field choice, to be sure. I don't know maybe he'll be good. I would say just trust Branagh but cast Keanu Reeves in a Shakespeare movie, lol. But he also cast Denzel Washington in that same Shakespeare film, which some people thought (for maybe the wrong reasons) was an outside the box choice but he was very fitting in that role.

I know that Harnett would not be my first choice, but he is capable of solid work.
