The Loki Thread

Harnett is a left field choice, to be sure. I don't know maybe he'll be good. I would say just trust Branagh but cast Keanu Reeves in a Shakespeare movie, lol. But he also cast Denzel Washington in that same Shakespeare film, which some people thought (for maybe the wrong reasons) was an outside the box choice but he was very fitting in that role.

I know that Harnett would not be my first choice, but he is capable of solid work.

I think Loki is too big a topic/character to have discussion about him limited to the other various Thor threads (and, hey, Sinestro got a thread :oldrazz:).

(Spoilers are from the Protosevich draft)
Anyway, I really liked how Loki was handled in the Protosevich draft. He was very much the trickster we know & love to hate, doing nothing overly complicated yet thoroughly ****ing up Thor's life. However, his descent into villainy felt a little sudden - one minute he was Thor's brother & friend, the next he's planning to overthrow the people who raised him as their son because Odin killed his true father, Ymir, years ago. I hope this has been addressed and his descent has been fleshed out a little bit in newer drafts.

I also hope his father is restored to Laufey. I have no idea why they made Ymir his father

I LOVED that he had his classic costume for the final showdown and I also liked his relationship (if you'd even call it that) with Karnilla.
Anyway - Jude Law, anyone? :woot:
Is the draft leaked online like the GL draft?

I think I'll vomit if Josh Hartnett is cast as Loki. :csad:

I'm right there with you. In all honesty, and I'm not just saying this because of this news, I think Josh Hartnett is one of the worst actors in Hollywood. Hands down.

I will cry if he is cast as Loki.

Yeah, I've never been impressed with Hartnett in anything. He always has a dead-eyed expression on his face and his voice sounds sort of husky, like he's smoking weed all the time.

Yeah, I haven't seen it either. I've got a friend who has a copy and I'm probably going to watch it tomorrow, since it's reportedly the movie that convinced Branagh to get in touch with him for the role.

I wouldn't really complain about Hartnett getting the role. If Branagh can get the character performance out of him why the frak not?

Now back in the day even Brad Dourif could've made a great Loki. Loved him as Grima Wormtongue too.

Aaaah, the Keanu Reeves acting method... :woot:

Here's someone I doubt anybody here has suggested: James Haven Voight

Gaspard Ulliel from Hannibal Rising would be another non big name who people should think about (He's 24 but they could age him up a bit by asking to grow some facial hair):

Dourif's sort of creepy in a different way from what I'd want for Loki.

I don't see Loki looking creepy more like someone that is arrogant, bored, and seems bitter while looking at everyone with disdain.

I think he'd have very angular features and a constant sneer. But other than that, I don't think he needs to look ugly or disfigured or anything.

Amazing how Adrien Brodi has the looks of some comic book villains like the Joker and Loki and has the acting skills to do a great job.

I'd love to see him cast as Loki

depending on how old they want him to be id say willem dafoe for an older version but younger i have no clue..really hate hartnet as an actor. he doesnt have much range, hes always very bland and boring loki is supposed to be an obnoxious prick, kinda like monarch from venture bros

Well, I don't think Loki needs to look as young as Thor anyway. 35 is still fairly young and Brody has the angular features I think of when I think of Loki.
