Agreed, that's certainly the problem with the networks, but I think the overall situation's actually improving with the advent of streaming and the "binge-watching" model. Like I said, HBO and Netflix shows (along with other premium/streaming fare) are often the slow-burn types, but they're at a much smaller risk of cancellation because viewers come to them ready to take the plunge (or binge, haha).Good point about HEROES. I think that the problem is today they tend to cancel shows that don't get blockbuster ratings out of the gate immediately, especially if they are high concept shows or ones that require lots of cash for quality production values or it's a combo or both AND the show's characters are "challenging" to the audience, not being archetypes or Mary Sues. This thing where two episodes in a show get's cancelled is ridiculous. Give these things a chance to grow a bit I say.
