Clunkiest title I’ve seen in years.

Weirdly early for a trailer. I wouldn't have expected this until at least Thanksgiving.

As someone whose been pretty critical of the Kennedy / Disney era of Star Wars , I gotta say , I think the trailer looks like a cute family film, geared particularly at children.

Obliviously , for a Gen- Xer like me , it evokes 1980s Lucasfilms like Return Of The Jedi and Willow , so I liked the trailer .

Don't know how good the film is gonna be , but I can see the audience they're going for , which is likely children who are too young to have been involved with the toxic , polarized, SW / Culture Wars ,debates of the Twenty Teens.

The only thing that took me out of it was seeing Sigourney Weaver there , which , being a man of a certain age, I think ," Ripley" .

But it's always nice to see her , and she's good at comedy.

So, I liked the trailer .

Andor is the exception that proves the rule. Rogue One is the only Disney Star Wars movie I LOVE, so I kinda pair the two. Nah man, I swear they look flat, all three of them, especially Andor, and it's not just Star Wars, it's 99% of all streaming shows. I'm watching Dexter Resurrection, comparing it with the first seasons of the OG show, it's night and day, everything looked so vivid and alive back then. Today, shows look and taste like ashes.

The trailer used pretty obvious imagery from ROTJ and Empire strikes back , evoking those films and nostalgia for the earlier SW films .

That's why they put it in the trailer.

It evokes Willow, to me, in the sense of it being an adventure for kids .

Again, it doesn't mean the film will be good .

But, the target audience looks to be more of the normie, family, Children, and GA audience , and I think if that's who they're aiming to appeal to , it very well could .

For a guy whose lived through the OG films, Prequel era, etc The film may not be for me.

But I can acknowledge that it could appeal to children and maybe their parents , who I'll probably be a decade older than them anyway .

I didn't watch all these shows, but House of the Dragon is a real downgrade compared to GOT in terms of visuals. The first thing that struck me upon initial viewing was how bland the cinematography was compared to the original show. People on Reddit also picked it up.

It's very odd to complain about HotD cinematography in comparison to GoT when HotD's first season was led by Miguel Sapochink and the second, Alan Taylor. Both known for their prominent roles on GoT. Especially Sapochink, who was responsible for how the show looked from s5 on and directed the Gift, Hardhome, Battle of the Bastards, Winds of Winter, The Long Night and the Bells.

I admit, it looks visually better than what I expected, but again, trailer, still a lot of movie for Favreau's "style" to come out. Grogu and Babu Frik make me smile.

And I admit, styling the title in a old serial type kind of warmed me to the title. A tiny bit.

What streaming shows have you watched that "look terrible" compared to streaming shows from 2015?

What exactly are you complaining about? Mood, aesthetic, or the straight up cinematography? Because how HotD is shot looks worlds better then the stuff you posted. Vhagar's battles are more arresting then anything from the original show, visually. Posting compressed YT clips with a distinct look, will always result in it looking worse. Especially when you post one show in 1080p and the other in 4K.

It's like all of the Mando Season trailers. Doesn't spoil anything. Some action. Some vibes. Nothing that blew me away here, but I'll be there day one for any New Republic era Star Wars stuff at this point.

What streaming shows have you watched that "look terrible" compared to streaming shows from 2015?

On top of my mind, Daredevil: Born Again, you compare the cinematography of the first season, released in 2015, with the one from the revival 10 years later, and it's striking. Without even mentioning the colors ( which were better), OG show just looked ... visually raw i n comparison.

What exactly are you complaining about? Mood, aesthetic, or the straight up cinematography? Because how HotD is shot looks worlds better then the stuff you posted. Vhagar's battles are more arresting then anything from the original show, visually. Posting compressed YT clips with a distinct look, will always result in it looking worse. Especially when you post one show in 1080p and the other in 4K.

The mood is tied to the narrative, and I have nothing to say about aesthetics; it's gorgeous; I'm talking about cinematography. The palette is subdued, desaturated, and dominated by muted blues, grays, and foggy tones. It's just visually boring. And it has nothing to do with the resolution, my very mid internet doesn't allow me to go beyond 1080p anyway.

As for proof, the battle of Stirling in Braveheart, still looks great even with a crappy resolution. Vivid green field, gushing bright red, striking blue paint. Bright colors, not diluted by any moody filter.
