Homecoming The Marc Webb Thread

As far as we know, Marc signed on like months before TASM2 came out, I doubt anything's gonna change

Webb's fine, it's Arad and Tolmach that need go away from this franchise.

Look I care about one thing and one thing only. Great action scenes, mostly fisticuffs. And I now doubt Webb could deliver that. I need someone who can.

in both movies they originally had that especially at the end where peter punched rhino

I'm assuming you know something. With that huge 2 year delay I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come back and I wouldn't be surprised if he did either.

Marc's not waiting around that time to do another installment. Regardless of what I know, this new date is just screaming that they're taking time to chart a new course before it's too late.

I completely disagree. Where Webb shines is the interpersonal stuff, but he's in over his head trying to capture the magic of CBM's.

Marc Webb's involvement crossed my mind when I saw 2018 instead of the expected 2017.

The "magic" of CBMs? What is that exactly?

Not what was in either of the TASM films, I'll tell you that much. Look, it's pretty obvious Webb doesn't have a good handle on this franchise given that he just churned out its worst performer.

I see nothing wrong with webbs comic direction, I see the problem with the scripts but not his direction, it's something that was very much missing from Raimis films

I still say today that if the script had been more solid and tied down it would have been the best spider-man movies ever by a long way

For the last time it was Sony, not Webb

What you mean because instead of doing the sinister 6 whose being directed by someone else before instead of after that means webbs out? Seriously? Seems abit grasping at straws to me

I am pretty certain he is still onboard and the change of plan is just to give spidey a breather

It immediately crossed my mind too. I don't think Webb has earned the leeway of a Christopher Nolan where WB was willing to work around his schedule rather than the other way around, which would be the other reason to wait longer.

A four year gap suggests changes to me.

As much as I'm a fan of Webb, things aren't as cut-and-dry as you think.

I know some of the stuff that's going on. I really wasnt sold on his max dillon, I've heard talks about Kafka's gender problem, and a few other things but some of the other stuff Webb put out seemed interesting and well planned out as teekay described. Webb just needs to figure out how to make the third film great

You say that but Webb would have been to busy to work on the movie but sony had to come to a deal with fox so they would let him do it and that being the reason an X-men clip was shown at the end of the TASM2

So to say they don't feel Webb is worth keeping or trying to get back is probably bull, and to also say they are waiting 4 years just to change director... Come on!

Its likely this is to give spidey a breather after TASM2

That was before TASM2 was such a massive disappointment.

If they were gonna change director they wouldn't need or have to wait 4 years to do that so its certainly not the reason it's being delayed, as to whether Webb is involved still we will have to see, will sony want him back? They certainly believe in him as they got him to sign for 3 films and delaying a movie 4 years is certainly not confirmation they want a new director at all, will webb wait? it depends if the passion is there to be involved and Webb already said he would want to be involved in someway even when he wasn't directing TASM4 so Its very possible he wants to finish his trilogy

Exactly. Neither of his TASM movies have been met with high level of acclaim and popularity Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were. WB would have been insane not to wait for him to finish Inception. People would have been pissed if they went ahead without Nolan.

I don't think many would care if Webb was replaced, particularly after TASM 2.

If Sony hadn't meddled with them then they would've cared

I think Webb has been part of the problem of these movies personally. During the production of both movies he decided to change pretty big story points (Peters parents story for TASM, MJ for TASM2). The production of both movies seemed unfocused. And then big shock the movies came out and seemed unfocused as well, especially the 2nd movie.

I just think he may out of his league here, he seems to change his mind a lot on what to show, and that IMO is what is making the movies cluttered and unfocused.

Plus, yeah, Webb's action scenes dont exactly get the pulse racing like the ones in many other CBM's do.

EDIT: Sony are ****s for meddling as well, but to me it seemed Webb got more freedom with the sequel, and that was poorer than the 1st movie.

I highly doubt it. I mean there were other stuffs that were important in both movies that Webb really needed to put into abd yet Sony meddled with them. I think we need some more proof involving Webb
