I don't have any issue with her myself. But there is plently more actress out there I think would be better then her. I don't have any names off top of my head as refrence. But all I was saying I wouldn't expect Bella in this.

No, because everything I've seen her in she was mediocre to bad (Scream, Duff). The only thing Thorne would bring to the role is her looks. MJ has many layers, she isn't just a pretty face, she needs to be played by capable actress who's close to Holland's range.

Which again I would look at the 17 to 22 yr old actors who have similar background and what not tom has had. As what they are going for. Hell look at how casting been for lead female roles in mcu. They haven't just hired a pretty face and just that. They are quality actors too.

I mentioned Bella long ago with a lukewarm response but I do think she would be an alright choice.

not sure if anyone mentioned her yet but I truly think Bella Thorn would be great for this part.

for me i said it before she is a decent actress not the best but not the worst person out there. And she is proper age range and she is a looker. Which i really want this time with mj. They really boned it with who was to be mj in asm 2 and dunst in raimi series. I still really want them to do the hottie out of peter league wild party girl. Who we see is just a mask to cover her bad family life. But over time and gaining peter and the midtown group as friends she mellows out and all that.

As for who i like to see in the role. I have no re preference at the moment. As i am sure they will nab someone good. Marvel has done well with leading ladies roles in mcu so far. For me i just want to see a certain look and character arch this go. And actress i dont really care. Besides i dont want to see mj, let alone harry, flash, gwen race changed. So besides that i am pretty open.

first i cant wait to we see some actual names testing or being offered the role. Which i do expect to happen. Or it would be a shock we dont hear anything and blam role is just annouced with x actress like aunt may turned out. I am just curious to see if they go with unknown like tom or someone with a little more history. Then its all about what take and story they do with her. And i still want that wild party girl hiding her pain of bad family life angle. With dreams of being a actress/model but then softens and becomes close friends with peter and the rest of the midtown gang.

My problem with McNamara is how she generally looks older than Tom:

Tom could pass for a 14 year-old if he really tried "Because I look like a 12 year-old." Mcnamara on the other hand looks her age (late teens early twenties). And she got fancast quite a bit when Dylan was still in the running.

MJ and Peter should look the same age.

Seesh to me she doesn't look that much older then tom. Again makeup and hair style could change that. If folks keep saying oh female actors age so quickly and a 20 to 24 couldn't pass for late teens look. Then you get into the weird oh maybe they cast really young and then that is a problem in itself.

But they're not going for late teens look. They're going for 15 year-old Peter which means we'll get a 15 year-old MJ, and Katherine doesn't look anywhere near close to 15. (even though she's the same age as Tom)

All I was getting at is you really shouldn't be fretting over actress age. We are likely to have folks between 18 to 23 to 24 tops in the midtown crew. It's would be a bigger issue if they had a 28 to 30 yr old trying to be 15 yours old. Again I am sure mj and others will end up being played by folks 4 to 6 yrs older them the role. Again if you want someone to look younger it seems to fit your view rest of the midtown guys would have to be 13 to 17 yr old actors. And I doubt they do that.

Harry if you think McNamara is to old looking compared with tom. Who are some folks you think could pull off a 15 to 16 mj/gwen/liz/sally we are likely to see as female characters.

I'd shrink that '18 to 24 down' to 17/18 to 20 for MJ. She's more than likely going to be the closest to Tom's age. And as for the rest of Midtown crew, i'd say 18-22, I don't think they're going to stray too far from Tom's actual age, and I think the Midtown crew is going to be built around Tom.

In terms of who I think look age appropriate for those roles, just to name some off the top of my head:

- Liana Liberato
- Chloe Grace Moretz
- Katheryn Newton
- Elle Fanning
- Abigail Breslin
- Hailee Steinfeld
- Olivia Crocicchia
- Odeya Rush
- Kaitlyn Dever
- McKaley Miller

Lol, not really. And just because girls mature faster doesn't mean MJ should look like a 20 year-old. She should still look the same age as Peter.

They could always go for example flash a yr or two older but is held back due to bad grade, and mj if she isnt there from the start and comes into midtown at a later point she could be a little older. But personally going from the 17-early 20s target we are likely to get as long as they dont really look so old. I dont see the issue if say mj or gwen is played by a 22 yr old playing a 15 to 16 yr old. Again we all had this talk throughout the board. There is plently of examples in your old life and with actors who are much older and look 5 to 10 yrs younger and the reverse younger aged but look older.

With the kids today and they way they wear cloths and makeup there is folks like 12-14 who look like they are 18-22 yrs old and you wouldnt think that and so forth. So again as long as they are not looking like they are late 20s/30s, greying hair, or wrinkles in the face the actual age of the actor isnt the issue.

But you also didn't see the issue with a 23 year-old Dylan O'Brien playing a 15 year-old Peter. Clearly, Marvel and Feige thought differently. What's the point of casting an actual teenager to play Peter only to cast a twenty-something as his main love interest? that TOTALLY defeats the purpose of casting younger in the first place. Why not just cast Dylan or Logan as Peter then? doesn't make any sense, Webhead.

No way MJ is going to be played by a 22 year-old actress, she's more than likely going to be in Tom's age range -18 and going no further than 20, mark my words.
