Batman '89 The Michael Keaton Appreciation Thread

I like his eyebrows. I don't know why, I just do.

I always thought his eyebrows looked like Jack Nicholson's. Keaton is a great actor. Shame he kind of disappeared over the last 10 years or so. He was good in Jackie Brown and Out of Sight. Of all the Batmen before Bale, he was easily the best and the nicest.

I will still always love Keaton equal to Bale, for the fact they did two completly different versions of my favorite character.

oh man!! that is so cool! could you post the inside stuff? you know, when they make fun of the movie and have little comics strips? i want to see that!

I wonder what Keaton thought of TDK if he's even seen it yet that is.

I can't remember how Jack's eyebrows looked.
But I'm focusing on Michael's right now, so hush :woot:

Is Sylvester Stallone ready to beat Keaton that fsssiiits his batwings?

(amazing figure)

He was a great Batman:

My favorite image of Bruce Wayne in any medium is above. It defines and nails the character in this scene and image.

He has such a determined expression. Not forced at all.

I can tell from looking that pic that Bruce Wayne knows what he needs to do, and has no setbacks about going out and doing it.

That's Batman for you.

Good at Batman. Didn't feel playboy-ish enough as Bruce Wayne. I just thought he came off as out of touch with society, and didn't understand how to act around other people. I know people'll be like 'That's because he's Batman and his personal tragedies have forced him to choose that over a normal life!' but there's no reason he can't have some social skills.

Faulting Keaton for not being enough of a playboy or not socially presentable is like faulting Adam West for not being a dark and brooding Batman. It makes no sense when that's not how the character was written.

Out of touch with society and awkward in social circles? Umm yeah, that's kinda what the script entailed. Keaton played that part like it was meant to be. You can't blame him for that.

As for the playboy role, lemme just reiterate that Keaton was the only Batman to actually nail a chick. A chick who he got drunk while he remained sober, no less. Bale can talk the talk, but Keaton walked the walk in this case. :funny:

Nicely put, not forgetting Selina (best chemistry in the Bat films so far), almost nailed her too.

I wish Nolan's films had some more romance, Rachel was pretty dire, I hope they either get Catwoman or some other gal from the comics to spice up his life :yay:

There are a number of great Keaton movies. My favorites:

-The Paper
-Batman
-Beetlejuice
-Live From Baghdad
-Much Ado About Nothing (he steals the show from all the Shakespearian actors in this)
-Batman Returns
-The Late Shift
-Mr. Mom
-Jackie Brown

A terrific and underrated actor.

not to mention Pacific Heights, plays a tenant who is a complete psychopath, very underrated film

I think Michael Keaton did a great job as Batman, although he wasnt to playboyish, thats not a bad thing, realistically, if your parents were murdered, it wouldnt make you too much of a "people person" his version of Bruce Wayne probably preferred to stay out of the public eye

That's true. His anti-social nature was consistent with his trauma and the amount of hours and effort that requires to be Batman on a daily basis.
