Why would you want to adapt Extreme Ghostbusters? That show was also a flop.
Because the show, despite having it's fair share of flaws, was actually surprisingly good (NOT great).

I just don't think there is much you can do with the concept and nothing I've seen from anything related to the franchise has convinced me otherwise. It is closer to Jaws in that way than something like Star Trek, where there is this huge, rich universe where you can follow other characters and tell different stories about.
Even something like Back to the Future has a lot more to offer with deeper characters and the ability to go to different time periods and tell different stories.
Ghostbusters stories are very repetitive.

I didn't put anything in a coma, Sony producers, director and cast did. They did grab a franchise with undeveloped potential and burned it to the ground. You can thank them.
If I would look for indirect responsibility, I would go for the "fans" that saw all the warning signs and cheered and supported this anyway, but I doubt that lack of support would have made any difference (Producers clearly weren't thinking when they made most of the decision to go ahead with)

The film is not doing well in Japan

From the Stantz1984 Reddit leaks there was a good amount of crap going on behind the scenes of this train-wreck. I would love to know exactly what the atmosphere was like with the cast and crew.
Not surprising. A lot of supporters were touting that Japan would be the saving throw of the movie internationally, making up for poor performance in other areas.
Not the case.
Good to know that bad movies can bring countries together.
I am wondering how long the NDAs on a project like this last -- From the Stantz1984 Reddit leaks there was a good amount of crap going on behind the scenes of this train-wreck. I would love to know exactly what the atmosphere was like with the cast and crew.
It is apparently a response to the twitter bansCan't post news article because I'm on my phone but Leslie Jones website was hacked to expose nude photos, not sure yet if her and her personal info like license and passport
Not sure if linked to Ghost bros or what but f*** em
http://www.thewrap.com/ghostbusters-star-leslie-jones-website-suffers-horrific-vandalism-by-hackers/Leslie Jones is the latest celebrity to fall victim to hackers, with the vandalization of her personal website on Wednesday morning.
The hacker(s) commandeered the “Ghostbusters” star’s Tumblr, posting personal photos from her iCloud account, which included several nude shots as well as pictures of her passport and driver license. Jones’ phone number and the password to her Twitter account were also displayed.
A Twitter exchange between Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and the WikiLeaks account led the top of the page in which Dorsey tweeted that users are only banned for targeted harassment. WikiLeaks responded with a link to one of Jones’ tweets in which she encouraged her followers to go after another harassing user.
Last month, the whistleblower site condemned action taken by Twitter on Jones’ behalf “cyber feudalism,” after the social media platform banned Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos for “inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others” after Jones posted examples of racist and misogynist abuse she had received on the platform, of which tweets by Yiannopoulous were included.
Jones’ site, which has already been taken offline, also featured YouTube video of the gorilla Harambe, who was killed in an Ohio zoo earlier this year. Jones was the victim of repeated racist harassment online leading up to the release of “Ghostbusters,” with some Twitter users comparing her to Harambe.
