It kind of feels like pandering a little bit.
Bill Murray says yes to this version of Ghostbusters, but says no to a third movie with Akyroyd.
More like Bill Murray says yes to a big fat sack full of cash, but says no to the idea of actually working for it.

Oh the whining here is glorious. Yeah, this couldn't possibly work. I've heard fans say that before, often before it works and they end up looking really foolish. Here's an idea, maybe Murray's doing it because, unlike others, he's not instantly horrified by the idea of an all-female Ghostbusters team. And he thinks that it'll be fun (just like Thor btw).

Disturbing.
Can't speak for Murray's cameo, but Dan's has already been leaked...
He's a Cabbie who swaps words with Wiig's character.
There is no reason to believe that they are playing Ray or Peter in anyway shape or form. It's still a reboot.
For the record, there is no solid proof that Murray is in this. They literally took pictures of him getting off a plane in Boston and have assumed that he's there for Ghostbusters.

All the trades (Variety, Hollywood Reporter, EW, etc.) have gotten confirmation from production sources that's he's definitely in this.
In regards to who he's playing, there was a part in the original script that was specifically written for Murray. No telling if that's still the case but It probably is.
(SPOILER WARNING)

Disturbing...yes.
Disturbing that someone had to put this picture together of a sick kid.
Disturbing that someone would use this sick kid and make it look like he's rolling eyes Melissa McCarthy.
Disturbing that this picture keeps getting posted.
Leave the kid alone.
I haven't seen nearly enough to know how this will turn out and I don't think anyone else has either. I get the beef with the constant reboots, but there has been way too much animosity over the fact that the team is all-female alone. Every slight variation of what came before is met with over-the-top outrage, from the suits being called bad cosplays just because they now have orange stripes to the Ecto-1 sucking just because they're using a different model of hearse now. Fanboys can be a really big pain in the ass sometimes, and I don't think even having Peter, Ray, and Winston in this in supporting roles would have quelled all the sexist whiners.
1. The originals were military flight suits, what they are wearing now are sewer employee uniforms with reflective orange stripes. So yes, it looks like cheap cosplay because they don't match the originals.
2. The original Ecto was NOT a hearse, it was a Cadillac ambulance that had style. The thing they are using has no style, it's pug-fugly. But it's okay because that seems to be Paul's style.
And it's not just fanboys that are upset, the more people are finding out that this movie is not a sequel but a complete reboot with NO connections to the originals - the more disappointed they get. Once this thing gets a trailer this will flop just like Fantastic Four.
I just can't stand the idea of rebooting the classics, no matter who the cast is
Zemeckis said he's not letting anyone touch BTTF, and that's what Reitman should've done here
(and for the record, I also thought GB3 was a terrible idea)
This movie could have it's funny moments, but was it at all necessary to reap what the original movies sowed as opposed to making it its own thing? I get it, you want your movie to make money it probably doesn't deserve, but I'd respect it a hell of a lot more if they weren't riding a certainly much-more-beloved film's coattails.
Do i think this will flop? sadly no I do not
Would I like it to? yes absolutely
I never want to live in a world where children refer to the original GB as "the old one"
