John Campea didn't Tweet any suggestive reaction after seeing it last night.

I don't think ID4:R's marketing did it a disservice at all.

If that was to me... Um, what? it was in regards to twitter saying it was initially good, thus why I will wait for actual reviews. I never stated marketing....

New IGN Interview with Feig:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/07/08/ghostbusters-director-paul-feig-responds-to-trailer-hate

“I'm not ashamed of that trailer at all - I was happy with it knowing what we had at the moment. And what we did is we did a big screening of it. We had all the Ghostheads kind of from all over the country come in so everybody came in their outfits, you know, the hardcore fans. And we premiered it for them and they went crazy for it - standing ovation, and they're chanting 'See it again! See it again!' So it was like we walked out of there thinking 'Oh good, for a first trailer we're actually pretty good.' And honestly the first wave of response was amazing. But as I found on the internet what happens is the first wave is always amazing. Then it takes a day. And then the second wave comes in and that's when it disseminates out to either haters, or the sceptical, or people who are just mad that we're doing it. And then quickly I saw the dislike numbers were going up very fast. It was this thing where you were like... plenty of people I'm sure didn't like it and I completely get that. But this seemed disproportionately high and fast going up. And I know that there's a lot of multiple accounts from the same people doing. it. And it also got embedded into fan sites that were gunning for it anyway. So it became sport to kind of drive it up.

“It was a bummer... but if you want to look glass half-full, we're also the most liked. If you look at the number of likes compared to other trailers, so OK, we'll take that one little victory. But I get it. Here's the thing. Being on camera it's nice I can say this because I do these print interviews and they always pull one part of my quote out. I've said from day one - I get that there is a bunch of people who just are trepidatious, nervous, mad that we're doing a reboot. Or touching this at all. And I completely get that - those people, I get that, I hear you, I would be nervous too if I didn't know what I was doing with it. And then there was the wave who just hated that it was women. And that to me is the non-starter. But that was a part of the group - its wasn't everybody. Everybody on the internet is painting it like I have been saying 'If you don't like it, you're against women.' I've never said that, ever. They take the quotes and they pull one part of the quote. So I understand - I completely get why people are nervous, so you just go... all I can ask is please just judge the movie on its own merits. Don't judge it off a trailer.

Credit where credit is due, I'm glad he clarified his comments about the haters on the film, and understands why some fans are instinctively against a reboot... yes there is sexism abound, but not all fans hate it because "oh noes, vaginas!"

Still not gunna see it, but nice to have that clarification

Faraci can go eat a bag. Considering how for weeks he acted like a huge man child spewing hate for Jurassic World, a movie with decent reviews I liked and made way more money than anyone thought.

Honestly don't know why people give him the time of day. Who. Cares?

A genuinely hateful human being and such a hypocrite with how he goes after people or who he defends and then how he acts himself. Karma will take care of him. Do not doubt that.

Faraci loves the sound of his own keyboard. Ignore him.

I have no issues with Devin's opinions on movies but he's just a huge, SJW, hypocritical *****e about everything. I honestly don't know how or why he has fans/followers. The only people that seem to tolerate him are his peers and even they get irritated with him every so often. Ugh, he's the worst.

If Mr Rolfe would really consider this movie failure good knows (I don't think that was his point), then I would have good news: behold the only IMAX in Argentina, on GB opening day, 7 PM showing

Normally, at this stage there should be plenty of claimed seats (for an anticipated movie it should be sold out), here not one seat is sold (the greyed ones are unavailable for online selling due to different reasons, some reserved for disabled, etc)

I still think Feig ought to just shut the hell up. If he wants the movie to speak for itself, stop doing interviews where you feel the need to tell everyone about the test screening's standing ovation (from a crowd carefully selected to give the best possible buzz on social media --- just like with F4) and just let the movie speak for itself. He has come off as an overly defensive ass throughout this process.

That said, I've always found Feig to be a bit too self-congratulatory for my liking. Its honestly a trend I have seen with most modern directors. You don't see Spielberg and Scorcese and the likes going in front of cameras and bragging up their own movies. But the new generation of directors are eager to make it as much about themselves as they are the movies, constantly doing media appearances, magazine covers, etc. You see it from JJ Abrams, Zack Snyder, basically everyone in this new generation. And I don't mind them giving interviews as much as I mind the reactionary nature of the interviews. They are almost always given for the sake of saying how misunderstood their movies are, rebuking the "haters", etc. Or in Abrams case for the sake of self-promotion. Its almost as if he is not content with people praising his movies, he wants them to be praising him.

Like I said, its probably a generation thing. I just find it off-putting. It comes off as very insecure.

It's hilarious.....generally, he says something about some movie and then there are 20 pages of people in that movie's forum saying he isn't worth reading he's not worth listening to.....but that's all they can talk about for 20 pages. If he's not worth reading......don't read him.

Just realized that Asylum released a Ghostbusters rip off this year.

Title aside, it looks more like a rip off of The Conjuring than Ghostbusters.

Besides the title and tag line, nothing else about this looks like a rip off of GB. Come on :funny: Like Matt said, looks like The Conjuring.

Have they released how many pre-sale tickets that have been sold?

I went to the websites of the three most popular theaters where I live, they have assigned seating, and for sh*** and grins I wanted to see what was available for the Thursday night showing. First theater: only two seats have been sold, second one: also two seats, third one: 6 seats. And all of them, no seats have been sold for the Friday night showing.

Sorry, not following what you ask... All the info available are those checkboxes to select your seat when you buy, and all of them are unchecked (not sold). That's the 7PM showing, the next one is at 10:30PM and at the moment, only 2 seats are sold.

I haven't found other theaters here with pre sales available for GB

For reference, Tarzan, opening on July 21, at the IMAX 10PM showing has 6 tickets sold

Sorry, I meant for North America or other places. Like when Star Wars sold out in minutes, there were reports of how many tickets had been sold.

Ah, I think they only announce those things only if there is something remarkable like outselling some similar movie on fandango or something like that.

There was a site we used to check for Fant4astic that had a little Top 5 of tickets sales, to check the level of anticipation close to release, but I can't remember the name.

And the boxofficetheory thread is locked because of the sexism discussions (can't say I blame them, I'm surprised that lasted that long here)

yeah because he's not known for stirring it for the sake of it, didnt his original tweet about avgn call him a limp dick loser

i hope this film is decent i really do but i get the feeling no matter how the reaction goes the split and nastiness will get worse

Don't know if anyone posted this yet, but Patton Oswalt saw the movie:

"Just saw an early screening of GHOSTBUSTERS. It's fun. It's scary. It's terrific. Stay 'til after the credits."
https://***********/pattonoswalt/status/750919154232729600

About the post credits sequence:

"I can objectively say the post-credits scene is better than that [fan idea parodying Avengers]. People will be happy."

Patton is good friends with Paul Feig and his late wife worked on the movie in some capacity. My condolences to his wife, but let's wait for actual critical reaction on Sunday.

He also claimed that avgn is inherently sexist for not seeing the movie.

It is fascinating. People who don't like him seem to constantly post his stuff as well. I don't understand it.

Looking forward to the reviews. But, given how this summer has gone, I'm still seeing this regardless of the reviewers.
