Ah, which is a book I never read. Now I know. Thanks.
you don't need to have read that, just like you don't need to have read the original Flash story to know what Earth 2 is. That's just where the term comes from.

I swear we should have a permanent sticky explaining 616

the Common comicbook terms thread.

How many variations of the Iron Man "buster" suite does he have? I mean there is the Hulk and Thor buster Iron Man armor, does he have others as well?

I think he's only got the Hulk and Thor "buster" suits but he's likely got more than one version of each. The guy cant stop tinkering with anything.

I doubt he's got any kind of Thorbuster armor anymore. Thor utterly destroyed it when they fought, and Tony wouldn't be able to duplicate the Asgardian energy source that powered it.

So what is/was the main difference between the Hulk buster armor and Thor buster armor?

Thor buster armor was powered by a mystical Asgardian jewel.

Its design was apparently based on the Destroyer, too. I thought that was cool.

But Thor still tore it to pieces?

Could Juggernaut live in a black hole?

I don't know. But he can live in a green one. Just ask She-Hulk.

Zing!

Yep. Ripped it to shreds with his bare hands and Mjolnir while it only did minimal damage to him. But there's no shame in that, really, since he went on to dent Captain America's shield with brute force a while later in that story.

yeah, he wasn't just Thor, that was when he had become ruler of Asgard and gotten the Odinpower

So why did Iron Man need the Thorbuster Armor?

Because if he had his regular armor, or even Hulk Buster on he would have done a lot worse. That armor he had might have had him on semi equal footing with regular Thor, but he had little idea what King Thor was capable of.

Because Thor was on the verge of starting an international crisis. Slokovia, a small Balkan nation near Latveria, had this fascistic government that was oppressing its people. Some of its people prayed to Thor, since Thor's increased involvement on Earth had gained him a massive worldwide religious following dubbed the Church of Thor. Thor heard their prayers and decided to intervene. Iron Man tried to convince Thor that the issues were a lot more complicated and that involving himself could be catastrophic. Thor brushed him off. Iron Man gave him an ultimatum: remove himself and the Asgardians from Slokovia or Iron Man would remove him. Thor brushed Iron Man off again.

Earlier, Thor had given Stark/Fujikawa a jewel empowered by the Odinpower for study. He hoped Tony's scientists could find some way to duplicate the energy source and mass-produce it. Ever looking to improve his armor, Tony built a suit of armor that was basically a reactor for harnessing the jewel's energy. He suited up and went back to Slokovia and delivered Thor a final warning. Thor, insulted that Tony would betray their friendship by turning a gift into a weapon against him, got really pissed. They fought, Dr. Doom escalated matters by remote-controlling Slokovia's weapons (sold to them by Doom, of course) and attacking the Asgardians, the Asgardians retaliated, the UN sent in ground troops, and the whole powder keg basically exploded.

Captain America showed up and stalled the UN's forces from going in, claiming he could talk Thor down. By this time Thor had demolished Iron Man's Thorbuster armor and was about to go to work on Iron Man himself (he had another suit of armor on underneath the Thorbuster armor). Cap tried to talk Thor down but Thor, in a rage, spun and attacked Cap blindly. He hit Cap's shield and dented it (which is what the pic Anubis posted shows). Horrified that he hit Cap, one of his closest friends, with a blow that, if not for his shield, would've pretty much vaporized him, Thor realized that he was going off the deep end a bit. Rather than coming all the way back from the edge, though, he just quit the Avengers and pulled Asgard's forces out of Slokovia.

Thanks corp  As always I can count on you when in doubt or need

I think I like that Thor, what issues was that?

The arc I just described was called "Standoff" and ran through Thor #58, Iron Man #64, and Avengers #63 (all by the post-Heroes Reborn numberings). It was written by Dan Jurgens, Mike Grell, and Geoff Johns and drawn by Alan Davis, who also created a badass set of interlocking covers for it:

It was just a small part of the much larger King Thor saga, though. That's collected in a bunch of trades. I think that particular arc is in Thor: Gods on Earth. The best arc from that saga, in my opinion, is the following one, though. That's called "Spiral" and is collected in (duh) a TPB called Thor: Spiral.

trying to think of some "official" stupid questions...

If Uncle Ben had never used the phrase 'With great power comes great responsibility', but still instilled all the same ideals into Peter Parker until his death, what would Peter's life motto be?

Would it be more interesting if Beast and Wolverine had each other's backgrounds? ie, Logan is a PhD and Hank was experimented on by the gov't?

Could Spidey use his new 'waldoes' to fly, spinning them round really fast in a rotor-blade-like manner?
