Why is there even a discussion.....it will be marketed as "from the studio and producers of X-Men: Whatever the ****, and will be titled The New Mutants.
I agree. It'll need good viral marketing
plus prof x, storm and maybe cameo by colossus - that should make it obvious
I'd point out for the 17th time that Alexandra has already said she'd not in the movie, but I don't think it'd be more effective than the previous 16 times.I agree. It'll need good viral marketing

t:Marc Weinstock's forte is actually R-rated comedies. But he isn't there nor is this film an R-rated comedy so yeah. (Not that the marketing team for Fox is bad or anything without Weinstock)Get the folks from Deadpool to help with marketing. Granted, that was a comedy and this isn't, but a lot of that publicity and marketing for Deadpool was pretty clever.

We had loved this X-Men spinoff, The New Mutants. We had loved Bill Sienkiewicz’s run with Chris Claremont that had Demon Bear. It was really dark, interesting, and different from the typical X-Men stories that we had read.
After I made The Fault in Our Stars, we made Fox a comic book. It walked them through a trilogy of New Mutant films that would build on each other. We used this program called Comic Life, and took all the images we had loved from the series and strung them together to show them the movie we wanted to do.
We brought it to Simon and he really liked it. We’ve been going for the past year and a half to get it ready, and I’m about to go location scout and we have a release date now.
They have a release date? Since when?
I'm so happy about this movie will be made.
t: this is spin-off to get excited for.defently more excited for this than deadpool II although that has my attention with cable and domino in it.based on casting rumors my suspecion is Boone will focus on Magik and wolfsbane.Magic and horrir will probally be big elements of this filmI recently re-read Claremont's first 50 issues of New Mutants. It is basically a Dani/Mirage book what I really enjoyed. I found her a very complex, non-stereotypical depiction and hope Boone will concentrate on her as much as Claremont. There are really great storylines to choose from. (It is so crazy to remember how important female characters are for this franchise and to see these Hollywood people totally ignore them in the last 16 years...)
I personally also really liked the time travel story in the end of Claremont's run where Illyana shatters the team in two different futures (one future where humans won and another one, equally apocalyptic, where the mutants one). But I think Boone will mainly highlight the aspects of magic and horror from the comic book (Belasco, Demon Bear, Magik etc. maybe some Inferno-esque third part??!?).
Good idea, Claremont as a creative consultant. Unfortunately FOX is probably too stubborn for that. With all the talk of Claremont between this and himself commenting on the X-Men popularity, or lack thereof, due to the films, heck, maybe Fox should have him help with something. Not necessarily to write or direct, but the guy gets the source material arguably better than most at Fox do right now.

Claremont was asked about his impressions of the 20th Century Fox film - which is based on his classic two-issue storyline - by MTV Geek.
"Of all the arcs that I wrote, that's probably the most popular with fans," he said. "I've been asked to kind of, maybe be around for a little consultation. I won't have a lot of input at all, but it's nice that they asked.
he did work on the outline for gambit.

Dani will get plenty of focus with the first movie being based around Demon Bear.
A New Mutants trilogy with Belasco, Demon Bear and Selene as villains would be great.
