Sequels The New Mutants - Josh Boone to Direct - Part 1

The most profitable FoX comic book movie is surprisingly their most comic book accurate. So the can't make it like the comics excuse doesn't fly anymore.

Yeah and did anyone cry that colossus ate breakfast in metal form, was in the cab in metal form and basically was nothing but metal? which isn't exactly comic accurate, its basically an exception made for the film and people seemed ok with it, not that i think colossus made or broke the movie or that anyone really cared all that much but still.

truth be told they could easily not have costumes or the danger room involved because there will be other stuff going on in terms of introduction and supernatural elements but at the same time if they did put that stuff in the film it would be interesting to see how they fit it into the confines of the set up because its something the main X-Men movies would have to kinda follow also so we would have to hope there was good communication there.

Seeing the kids sitting round doing homework is hardly gonna be very dynamic for a movie, so I would think that Danger Room training has got to be a part of the film at some point.

If the animatic says anything there will be more going on then just sitting and studying.

Colossus in Deadpool > Any of his other appearances

Oh thats what i thought we was talking about.

I am just surprised at this point people continue to have expectations that we are gonna get a direct comic to live action translation since i been on this board long enough to have my own expectation of how they were gonna translate the source material dashed to seeing others and their even higher expectations dashed and that goes way back to 2006 onwards so at this point looking at the comics as some guideline that has to be followed just makes it seem like people here have learnt nothing.

There is a contrast between the books and the films which yeah can be written around to make sense of but its still there.
This isn't about managing expectations - all of us have enough experience with this franchise to understand how to manage our expectations. You just have a bad habit of being contrarian. The costumes and Danger Room are not wishes that are being pulled out of left field, they are there because they've established them in the movies, which have been more and more faithful to the comics for the last 6 years. That's the point.

Well thats good then, Although sometimes it doesn't seem that way.

How dare people want New Mutants stuff in a New Mutants movie, right?

It's like when it was hinted wolverine 3 would be Old Man Logan, suddenly people were asking whose gonna take the Hawkeye role which it could be argued there doesn't need a hawkeye type character but people still insisted you can't do old man Logan without it, so when you look at what we are actually getting... It's kinda old man Logan, Xavier kinda fits into the hawkeye role but it's a different type of story altogether and its one no one would have expected 6 months ago when some thought it was might be a direct adaptation.

There's such a vast difference between some fans asking about Hawkeye appearing in an eventual Fox-produced Old Man Logan Vs. fans wanting New Mutants costumes and/or Danger Room.

You need a better analogy there.

Thing is it will be up to Josh Boone for how much costumes are used in this film.

I didn't say they wanted Hawkeye but they believed there needed to be character to fill the Hawkeye role because Old Man Logan couldnt be made without it apparently.

Just for the record i ain't saying I don't think they CAN have costumes and go into the danger room, I am just saying with this franchise there is a pretty big chance things will be done a little different.

I don't see any reason for you to be taking this stance tbh other than having contrary expectations to most fans just because as per usual. During Deadpool production did you also tell people not to expect Deadpool actually taking shots at the X-Verse, having CGI white eyes, the X-Mansion actually showing up, etc etc.

Should the team refer to themselves as "The Mutants" as Stan Lee originally intended?

I am very excited about this.

The only slight disappointment is that there are only 2 guys out of the team. Cannonball and Sunspot.

So the gender lineup is kind of imbalanced/lopsided, with the girls outnumbered the guys.

But I will still look forward to it, and I hope that it's good.

The guys always outnumber the girls. Don't know why it's a bad thing there are more girls.

Yeah, this New Mutants film is shaping up greatly precisely because there are more females than males, plus an alien and a dragon. X-Force could also follow the same lead (minus the alien and the dragon). That in itself is cooler than just having Black Widow or Wonder Woman in a team filled with men.

The X-Men have the best women in comics, it's time for them to use them. X-23 and Domino are a good start and now we will get to Magik, Wolfsbane and Dani Moonstar.

4 Guys (Cannonball, Sunspot, Warlock, & Lockheed)

That's the most X-Men accurate thing about it and I love it!!

100% Agreement

Didn't New Mutants always had more girls than guys? I don't see anything wrong about it.

He had the same issue with the Runaways series for Hulu. I don't get why it's such a big deal to have more female characters. It's something that's lacking in comic films (Justice League with Wonder Woman, Avengers first film with just Black Widow, etc). It's nice to see more strong female characters as leads in superhero properties.

I'm incredibly pumped about the New Mutants film for this very reason. Hoping they use that suit Negasonic Teenage Warhead had on in Deadpool.

My New Mutants is always the group of 9

Mirage
Cannonball
Magik
Sunspot
Magma
Wolfsbane
Karma
Warlock
Cypher

5 to 4

Girls have cooties

They've done studies on this and found out that people think teams that are 30-40% female have more women than men. It's just an odd expectation that teams have a significantly larger male presence. Given that, I'd be glad to see a film subvert that and actually have more girls.

Although Cannonball, Sunspot, Warlock, Mirage, Magik, and Wolfsbane. Are there other team members likely to appear that I'm missing?
