Sequels The New Mutants - Josh Boone to Direct - Part 2

i think NM will be its own thing, if Xavier and Magneto arent in it and theres no reference to DP and Phoenix .

Moreover Im fed up with McAvoy playing Xavier

He is still young and is going to play Prof X in his 60 years old ????? *******
I want a x-men movie in 2010's starring OT

Agreed absolutely. If Xavier is in his 60's, then get Patrick Stewart to reprise the role. Even if he said that Logan would mark the final time playing the character, Patrick did say that he would continue playing the role if FOX still wants him to.

So you would rather someone older play someone younger then otherway round? Patrick isn't in his 60s and he has already played xavier in his 90s

Although if xavier was 90 in Logan that means he would actually be in his 50s in the 90s

New Mutants being a side storyline to the main X-Men movies should be exactly that I love the Demon Bear saga and can't wait to see where it goes on screen. It helps to have a huge fan directing and writing too I feel like he is going to know the essence of these characters.

Here's a crazy idea. Why don't we wait and see if they age up McAvoy a bit this time around before endlessly complaining about his appearance related to his age during this outing?

Makes a bit more sense than having a man nearing 80 who has basically said he's done with the character playing a 60 year old again.

Xavier was supposed to be 30 in FIRST CLASS. That would make him 40-41 in 1973 during DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and 50-51 in APOCALYPSE.

Sure, he looked good for his age in APOCALYPSE. He's also a movie star with tons of makeup on. Characters are generally supposed to look good onscreen, within reason. You could argue that Patrick Stewart himself looked pretty good for his age in 2000's X-MEN.

Patrick is only 76 years old in real life. That may be 16 years older than Xavier's age in the Dark Phoenix film but he's still age-appropriate for the role. In fact, he actually turned 60 when the first X-men film came out in theaters so he isn't going to look any different.

But he most certainly has aged since the first X-Men movie.

You could argue having no hair has kept him looking the same as he did since the 80s but he certainly doesn't look younger then he did in X1 in 2000

I am willing to bet they will say the character is in his 50s for Dark Phoenix and that it was 20s for FC, 30s for DOFP, 40s for apocalypse.

Ignoring Logan revealing xaviers age in 2029 for a moment which already muddled waters some what.

The only way Xavier would be in his 20's in First Class is if the scene with him meeting Mystique as kids was during the 1950's but it said it's in 1944. Xavier being in his early teens in 1944 would put him at the age of 30 in 1962.

If they set it in present day i really would be surprised if they showed all that much X-Men related things because it would only be a few months apart from Dark Phoenix and do you really want to have 2 movies that are both set around the same school, characters and locations but in different time periods?

They could be careless and not care, feeling that aslong as its a good movie then who cares about that stuff but i think it wouldn't do the franchise any favours being that over confident.

This movie really has me stomped because they can go two ways: the "younger" or older X-Men can make appearances. Now if Magik is apart of the team then wouldn't it make sense for a teammate from the OT to have a colossus role similar to Deadpool? That would mean Piotr is at the mansion also and is a member of the X-Men. I would love if they could get Paquin to reprise Rogue and have her training them with her flight and strength abilities. It'll be nice if she were to have a scene talking to Dani about how she couldn't control her new power similar to how Dani's struggles plus it wouldn't be to expensive for a character like Rogue. On the other hand there was that rumor about Ship playing Storm in NM so basically a mentor size role I would assume.

Im thinking the movie might just focus on the New Mutants with a possible mention of the XMen in whatever time period they decide to put them in. There may not be any cameos from either cast and I like it that way frankly.
It seems like it would be pretty hard to tell a New Mutants origin story without any X-Men in it.

Would be great if it is set post Logan and Storm, Rogue, Cyclops are still alive and one of them is mentoring the newbies!

He's likely going to be 60 if it's set in the early 90's. They will probably age him somewhat, but again, look at Professor X in X-MEN. He's got enough makeup on there that he doesn't exactly look ancient, yet he's likely supposed to be in his 60's or even 70's there, based on the timeline of the original franchise in relation to say, DOFP. There's a precedent for the character looking a bit flawless for his age already in both the films AND the comics, and it's cinematic convention to hide an actor's flaws and make them more photogenic in general. He's not exactly a craggy, wrinkled fellow until films set up to 20 years after the events of X-MEN.

Thus far, they've been mostly using the style of McAvoy's hair, facial hair, and different types of lighting to make him look older, more rugged, etc, which is an old trick, but now that he's bald they will need to do something else to show advancement.

That's assuming that they jump ten years and not a few years or something.

Not really, they can mention them to show they are in the same universe but they don't necessarily have to make them cameo in the film. Either or it seems more likely NM will take place in the same timeline as DPS so if they decide to do a cameo those are the ones likely to make an appearance. If not I feel it would be a missed opportunity since they actually share the school, would be odd not to see someone lol.

NM will introduce 6 new characters, thats a lot to do already.

We are also getting 3 movies next year, we dont need X-men to show up in every one of them

It would be really awkward to write about all these kids coming to the school without ever showing any of the people who actually run the school. You need Professor X, at a minimum.

You could make new mutants without the school, it just wouldn't be very faithful.

it could end up a deadpool type deal or even that generation X tv movie that was made in the 90s where you see the school but alot is hidden off screen.

Or maybe they just won't care and show whatever they like which i think would be a tactical mistake to make given the timing of the films releases

I thought for some reason the Demon Bear threat was occurring at the actual school that's the reason I assumed maybe they would mention the XMen at the least possibly Xavier since it is his school no one else should make an appearance if they do. It would be better to just focus on the NM it is alot of characters to establish. I actually liked the Gen X movie when it came out years ago lol.

It would be cool to see if someone like Storm or Cyclops finally running the school now that they've killed Xavier in a very brutal way in that Logan movie.

Xavier was 12 in 1944 FC intro so 30 in 1962, 41 in 1973 and 51 in Apocalyupse. If DP will set 10 years later he will be in his 60

And he is 90 in Logan, work that one out?

I do believe Kinberg said Mystiques is in her 30s in apocalypse so i do think liberties will be taken with age.
