Asa would make for an OUTSTANDING Peter Parker.

I've said that for a long time. And finally people start to think the same.
How long will it take Liam Aiken to get supporters (for Harry or another superhero, the "Ezra young" Green Lantern)?
If I know atleast someone right, he will change his mind sooner or later, after first completely dismissing Aiken off (and refer to him as a stoned weirdo).
All it takes is to give him a chance to warm up to the idea. Maybe see some Aiken films.

That screams Peter Parker (at least it does for me).
This pic too, but it wasn't something people agreed with here.

But who knows. WB might just snatch him for Tim Drake?
The only thing that speaks against that casting is that every heroic role in DCU is played by unexpected actors. Butterfield is too much of a logic choice for Tim.
The same can be said about Lerman and Dick Grayson.

No, Marvel is the studio that cast logically. I only hope that it's either Logan or Asa then.
I'm happy with a bunch of other possible actors too, but these are my number ones.

So out of the actors in your current top list, which ones have you actually seen act?
Dylan O'Brien (seen him in Teen Wolf, First Time, Maze Runner and The Internship), Charlie Rowe (seen him in Red Band Society), Teo Halm (Seen him in Earth to Echo), Asa Butterfield (Seen him in Hugo and X+Y).

It's no surprise that Chandler Riggs is in your top lists when you haven't even seen him in action.

Why campaign for actors that you haven't even seen act (like Isaac, Chandler e.g.) by posting pictures in countless of posts with texts like "Isaac4Spidey" and stuff, instead of being rational and honest by simply saying "I haven't seen this guy act but to me, he looks like Peter Parker"?

I suspect that he hasn't seen much of Liam Aiken either. He just found ONE recent pic of him where he looked quite off, and he went along the lines of "OMG, he doesn't suit, he look like a weird stoner in all of his pics". He wrote him off just based only on that.
It's somewhat funny that he claims he gives all candidates an equal chance:
And I've actually done research on my picks for Spider-Man to determine if they're right for the role.

My logic- looks like Peter Parker + Can play the nerd + Is good with Drama + Is funny and could nail the comedic scenes with Spidey = Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
And he claims that I only go by:
Your logic- Good actor + Looks good in spandex + Is a male + Is young = Peter Parker/Spider-Man
No. They both age visually at one year per year. This is the point I just made. I get it, Sangster is older, yet he looks younger. This just means he looks x years younger than he is. Dylan is y years younger. Thus, if dylan can portray someone at age z, even if he wouldn't portray the age as well as sang, then z would change at the same rate as x and y. My main point is that Sang ACTUALLY visually ages the same speed, even though he looks x years younger than his age. (Er somthin'.)
What if Sangster's looks isn't effected by the years as much as Dylan is? Will there be another equation going on for him then?

What's with all the Xs and Ys? Are you hinting that Asa has won the part or are you just rooting for him? :)

I think I did a pretty good job at toning down my usual Campaigns for obscure actors such as Isaac or Chandler.
But yeah, I guess it was a bit extreme.
I actually did see Chandler in a few episodes of the Walking Dead and I honestly thought he was pretty good, but not Peter Parker material to be honest.
I guess it was more of a backup choice to Dylan for the role.

I'm kinda settled on Charlie Rowe and Teo Halm in my top three though. having seen them act makes me more comfortable in them staying in the top three, that's why Dylan is always my first choice.

Yea if they don't have brown eyes really isn't a deal breaker for me. I would prefer they did have correct color or even if they did contacts. For me I just want someone who looks like the comics and acts well in both parts as peter and as spidey as we fans want to see him as. And for me personally I wouldn't say anyone we talked about is on or out. There is so many factors we don't know. And still yes we know they want character young. Doesn't mean actor pick would be same age as character. That is limiting your choices to much. Where as if they went in going for 15 to 24 range you have more wider net to look at. And even if someone older then 20 is or was picked it's not that bad.

You say looking for a 16-18 is limiting your choices but how many teen actors would turn up for the casting call for a role of that magnitude? Hundreds? THOUSANDS?

But how many would actually be not only excellent actors, but the right fit for the role of Peter Parker and Spider-Man?

Ya I am just going more on acting skills and would such a young actor be done for a big long term deal and other things. But that's the thing we don't know how they been casting. Was it a wide open casting calls on nyc la etc... or did marvel sony already have a short list of folks like Logan and dylan and only looked at those names. So much is unknown. But when ever pick is revealed. I do hope they talk about the casting process. So we can figure out more details.

Say a thousand teens turn up and you turn away three quarters of them because they look nothing like Peter Peter, leaving you with 250.

You turn away half of those teens because even though they look like Peter they can't act for ****, leaving you with 125.

You turn away half (and a bit) of those teens who can act but have no range, leaving you with 62.

You turn away half of those teens who have range but no nuance, leaving you with 31.

You turn away half (and a bit) of those teens who are nuanced, have range but nail the humour, laving you with 15.

You draw up a short list of the best of the rest, the actors who are brilliant at acting but can't handle the physicality, narrowing it down to the final ten.

You make those 10 sign a NDA (non disclosure agree) and give them the script and make them act pivotal scenes which call for depth, humour, nuance and stunts.

The one that nails it gets the role.

There are literally THOUSANDS of teens who would kill for the role of Spider-Man, so do the job you are being paid a king's ransom to do and find an age appropriate Peter Parker. It's casting, not rocket science.

Well be it a known or unknown I hope they can nail both peter stuff and spidey stuff.

I love narrowing things down.

How to find out who is Batman.

You find the entire number of people Gotham (millions)

You eliminate the female population (reducing the number down to a couple of million)

You eliminate the male population who are younger than 13 and older than 55 (reducing the number down to hundreds of thousands)

You eliminate the male population who don't have a fortune (reducing the number down to a couple of hundred)

You eliminate the male population who don't match Batman's physique (reducing the number down to a handful)

You search the past of that handful for evidence of a traumatic event that would make them put on a suit and fight crime (reducing the number down to 1)

That's Batman.

I'm aware that it's not rocket science. But this casting is a HUGE deal. There are plenty of reasons that Hollywood teen roles are usually played by slightly older actors, and it's not "lazy" like you said in the other thread. With age comes experience, wisdom, growth. Not to mention child labor laws, which alter production schedules.

And look, I'm not saying they can't find a teen actor. But why should they limit themselves?

Yeah..... Peter Parker. It is VERY doubtful that Butterfield could pull off the Spider-Man side of the role.

Whomever is cast needs to be able to portray Peter outside AND inside the suit. Otherwise, we end up with another Maguire/Garfield situation.

Ya it would be foolish to just limit role to a select range. The biggest thing is even if older was picked can they pull off playing a teen for a few films. Like I and others said with how mcu time goes. For phase 3 we likely be seeing peter from 16 to 19 yrs old. And if they can get 3 solo films out by 2020 and 3 mcu films civil war and infinity wars. That is plenty of time to play with teen peter. So with that we likely see pick working on and off with mcu films for next 5 yrs. So if a 20s actor can stay fresh face for next 5 urs. Teen peter be fine. And also like we said it's typical Hollywood to cast older for younger. Still a early 20s pick would be no older them 29 by the time phase 3 films are release. And by that time phase 4 spidey be in early to mid 20s. So a late 20s to early 30s actor be fine playing role any more.

Neither... x y and z are used in math. :P

Yeah. Thats exactly my problem with Butterface.
He would be an excellent young Peter, but a horrible spider-man. He just... isn't funny. Teo Halm however would play a great Peter, and an excellent spiderman. Dylan I think would be PERFECT for both. That's why those two are my top picks.

Also, as for harry changing his mind, would you rather have him be stubborn and just be a fanboy of whoever he 'thinks is best for spider-man'? Or would you rather him actually consider evidence and do his research which changes his opinion on who would be best, but he still sees evidence that Dylan would be a great spidey? I think the latter is best. :P So don't complain when ppl change their minds!

As a side note I actually watched Teo in Earth To Echo. He was pretty great! Not as great as what I have seen him like in interviews, but it's probably because he wasn't a main character so he didn't get a lot of lines.

I might check out that film myself. But for me I wouldn't x out any of the names we talked about the last two months. We don't know what final call is from Sony and marvel. So until we know for sure on the pick and if we get details on casting. We could see if a wide age was being looked at or if they where going extremely young.

Exactly!
Some people stopped rooting for Dylan not because he wouldn't be the best choice, but they thought that Marvel wouldn't want someone his age.
Age is one of the LEAST of Marvels concerns. (Probably eye color is less of a concern though. :P) As long as it's a younger guy, but not a toddler, they will likley consider them.

If Marvel really want some teenagers and other young characters in the MCU, they should consider introducing the Runaways and Power Pack. I just don't want a Spider-Man who is so young that he feels like he should hang out with one of those teams instead of the older heroes like the Avengers or Daredevil.

The Runaways would be fairly easy to do either as a movie or TV series, and they wouldn't even need costumes, and they don't even use code names. Some of these teen Peter Parker candidates could even play roles like Chase Stein or Victor Mancha.

Totally all we know is they want peter to he young in the 15 to 17 range when we meet him. Doesn't mean a. Character forever to be just that age in mcu. And b. Is they want someone who can play both sides of the role and can LOOK YOUNG ENOUGH for a few films. Someone like dylan who currently playing a 17 yr old on tv I still feel could pull off a 16 to 19 yr old peter for next 5 yrs of at least two solo films and civil war and both parts of infinity wars. Then must likely by 2019 2020 we be past teen spidey time anyway with mcu timeline.

Dark the runaways has been on and off the deck for a few yrs now. It looks like either marvel can't settle on a script they like. Or they holding it off right now cause of there other plans. Ie going more cosmic stuff. I am sure we will see then in the future maybe a phase 4 or 5 movie.

I actually like that idea. I doubt they would do it. :/
I do think they will be smart enough not to choose someone who looks 13 though. At least I hope so... otherwise we might be seeing another reboot in a few more years... and if he makes interaction with any Avengers before then, I will be so sad.
