Square Enix Hints At Final Fantasy XIII-3

The director of FF13 suggests it's coming, but admits the FF10 remake still has no projected release

Wait... FFX gets a remake, but FFVII doesn't? What the hell?! A lot of fans want a FVII remake, but they refuse to do it (as RavenX mentioned).

What is the point of making a FFX remake when fans have practically been screaming for a FFVII remake? :whatever:

Do you really want modern square remaking a beloved classic?

FFX is getting an HD remaster, not a full on remake. Its much easier to bring that title to the HD platforms than FF VII which is too dated for that

What is the point of revisiting FFX? To make money.

Yes.

Lol! Isn't that what Square Enix is all about these days? They're not making any serious money and they just do all these things to get money. Now if they made a FFVII remake, I'm sure that would generate lots of cash.

Seems like Versus XIII hasn't been shelved yet.

Final Fantasy executive producer Shinji Hashimoto talked about Final Fantasy Versus XIII at Ginza Swing in Tokyo, he said that the game has evolved considerably, and he thinks it is important to bring out the game as it is supposed to be "incredibly amazing".

It would be a major dissapointment if the new consoles come out before this does and its looking like that may be the case

I'll be happy if it ever comes out, even if it's a next-gen game. I would really hate it if they would take all of the assets and shove them into a new FF title.

Seems like Versus XIII hasn't been shelved yet.

we knew about that for some time now though

It's just you and havok it would seem that didn't, even though you were on the same thread when Raven put/ reconfrimed it after I put up and kept saying it wasn't that and I was also saying it was from the beginning. but as they say some people don't believe something unless they find or do somethings for them selves. which is fine. at least you know now and are happy about it.

My apologies if I added you in there (of not knowing )Havok. I misread that some how.

heh.......if it's so incredibly amazing.......why not show it off some more, make it public, let people know it's still alive.

instead of seemingly spending all of your time and energy on making sequels to FFXIII...........

Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary celebration is in full effect over in Japan, and a rather interesting tidbit was revealed leading up to the main event. Andriasang reports that Square Enix will be releasing something called the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box, which includes the 13 core Final Fantasy games in one handy compilation.

The games in the collection include the following:
  • Final Fantasy (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy II (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy III (PSP)
  • Final Fantasy IV (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy V (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy VI (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy VII (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy VIII (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy IX (PSone)
  • Final Fantasy X (PS2)
  • Final Fantasy XI (PS2)
  • Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
  • Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)

It was initially unclear if Square Enix would actually be releasing PSone discs (and PSP UMDs) along with PS2 and PS3 discs, but according to its listing on Square Enix’s website, it appears that is the case. All told, the collection will contain 21 discs (18 PSone, 3 PS2, 1 PS3) and a single UMD.
It will also include a “special anniversary video disc,” a soundtrack spanning two discs and more.

The collection reportedly costs ¥35,000, or $447. It comes out in Japan on September 30th. Whether or not it will be released anywhere else remains to be seen.

That set looks amazing but its ridiculous that they are releasing the PS1 games on multiple PS1 discs. They really should have put those all on one PS3 BR. All of these should have been PS3 ports, especially since current PS3s cant play PS2 discs

Fans Make a Peaceful Online Protest for Final Fantasy Versus XIII

[YT]AA2dI9RCf6c[/YT]

While Square Enix recently confirmed that it is still making Final Fantasy Versus XIII and that it'll be out when it's good and ready, some fans are having a hard time waiting. It's only been six years. What's the rush?

Recently, a group of fans on the GameFAQs boards banded together to form Project Crystallis and release "peaceful" video protests to Square Enix. As its YouTube video page points out: "We're not rushing [SIC] release date. We're demanding info release."

Check out the group's protest video above and, if you are interested, have a look at the group's Facebook page.

Better than anything Square as recently done.

I played through the free slice of Final Fantasy Dimensions for iOS. It was decent, with cheap retro graphics that capture the feel of early 16-bit RPGs...or RPG Maker games, anyway. lol

But this new one looks like a head-scratcher:

Final Fantasy: All The Bravest

Doing some research on the business model behind this, I can't really get behind it.

■Purchase premium characters and new game worlds!
The in-game shop offers access to 35 famous characters from a number of FINAL FANTASY titles. Each purchase ensures you will receive a new, random character. Which powerful favorites will you have join your party? You are also able to purchase additional game stages from FINAL FANTASY VII, X, and XIII. Board airships bound for new worlds where further adventures await!

Paying for random characters, eww. Reminds me of this related crackdown in Japan. Seems like IAP abuse of the customer.

Between the incoherent trailer and the business model, I'll just stick to Square Enix's other stuff like Chaos Rings and Final Fantasy Dimensions...

Pay for random characters? The thing is already on the high end as far as prices go for a mobile game at $30

$3? I must be thinking of another FF game. Didnt SE release one for iOS at that price or something else high? I remember them being criticized for it

Final Fantasy Dimensions launched for $30, or you could buy the chapters in installments for way less money. But usually whenever they release a big new mobile game, they cut the prices on their previous games. It's essentially a Square Enix premium penalty on early adopters.

People wind up paying way more than $0 (so-called "freemium" or F2P) or $3 on these microtransaction (or P2W Pay-to-win) software like the new FF:ATB. I'm not a fan of the business model.
