me and this guy used to play this game at work. you'd name 3 players and the other had to pick one for 'their team'.
so i'll bring this one up to yall:

Which player would you want as center?
Bill Russell
Kareem Abdul Jabar
Wilt Chamberlain

Hmmm...tough choice. I would probably go with Russell. Wasn't he known for shutting down Wilt even though Wilt destroyed the rest of the league?

Jordon like 48 so both LBJ and Kobe beat him. That super nice aswell and faster. LBJ can be even stronger.
Jordan in his prime not now

I don't know about that. Jordan had more explosiveness than Kobe. LeBron has similar explosiveness, although he has nowhere near the shooting ability of either Kobe or MJ.
yup they mentioned kobe's explosiveness is almost up there, they even said kobe's a slightly better shooter than Jordan, but still no one can match Michael, even LeBron fan thought he would get shut out if went against Jordan in a game of 21

I think Craig Hodges said it best. Kobe couldn't have scored anywhere near 81 back when they didn't have the hand check rule.

Jordan would light up the league today even more than he did during his heyday with the new rules. For crying out loud, he put up 43 at age 40 on two bad knees.

Basically.
lol i doubt it. I love MJ, but dude shoulf have stayed retired after that sick move he made on Russel. Seeing him miss the dunk at the all star game was sad moment :csad:

at least he had those tight shoes come out, lol rememer the little suitcase

he also won a ton of championships, was a coach and a player simultaneously (if i'm not mistaken) and now has a NBA award named after him

hell yea that was sick, hopefully we'll see if Kobe can pull somthin like that in the future

lol that was sick

I'll be pretty surprised if Kobe sticks around that long. He and LeBron started so early that there will probably be an earlier burnout for them. And of course it might depend on Kobe's goals. If he wants to win a certain number of rings (on his own without Shaq) then maybe he sticks around longer. But if he just wants to win a certain number total (say 7, to beat MJ's number) then he only has 3 more to go and he might retire fairly early.

true man, Kobe's tank was close to empty in the playoffs, but can't blame him, dude was in the olympics won gold, and won a ring.

i like it better when players play for the love of the game, not for how many rings they have. im not saying that winning championships are not important at all. i know how important they are. but there have been a lot of players who never won a 'ship that i really enjoyed watching because of thier passion and love for the game and how hard they fought each and every game.

easily a great example of that: John Stockton

What do you quantify as a passion/love of the game? Jordan has said over and over he loves the game and it's the greatest passion of his life. He's also a huge competitor no matter what he does. Mix the two and you end up with arguably the best basketball player ever. He wasn't the most physically gifted. That belongs to LeBron James, who is a freak of nature. But Jordan worked his butt off, much the same way that Stockton did.

agree, there are also over rated players like Oden, dude should hope he can play one day like an NBA player, not worry about rings

i dont mean anything bad by it. i just feel like you can feel the love some players have more than others. Jordan practically had it coming out of his pores at times. The pic of him holding the champinship trophy crying? iconic.

maybe i worded it wrong.

I agree with you. There are some guys who are clearly there just to collect paychecks. I'm a golfer and a Tiger fan. The thing I like about him is that despite his massive success, he STILL gets excited when he wins even a minor PGA Tour event. A lot of the other guys are just paycheck-collectors.

word

Tiger recently said he was "addicted" to the game of golf. This is a guy who has played it for 32 of his 33.5 years on Earth. He gets up at 5 AM every morning and practices all day long. And yet despite having that routine for so many years, he is STILL addicted to it. That is an incredible dedication and passion for the game. Like he said, it's an addiction. LOL

Love all the Jordan love.

As far as who is better then who:

I consider Bill Russel the god of Basketball, & Jordan Jesus.

So when is the NBA finally going to get wise and retire the number 23 league wide?

As far as Kobe and LeBron, the game they play in and dominate would seem like child's play to Jordan in the game he played in and dominated through the 80s and early 90s. It's easier than ever to score. If you played defense today the way they did back then, you'd foul out not even half way through the first quarter. There's been a *****fication of the game throughout the years. I mean, not that we shouldn't already know he's the best, Jordan still averaged over 20 points a game when he came back and played at 39 and 40 years old with the Wizards. At 40 years old he's still able to put up those numbers? Imagine if he played in his prime in today's NBA.

When LeBron or Kobe average around 40 points a game, be as good defensively as they are on offense, win as many MVP and Finals MVPs, and do that on a consistent basis, year in year out, every single game, THEN they can be in the discussion. Right now, no one is close. The best compliment I can give Kobe is that he is the best Jordan imitator.
