I wouldn't hold my breath for that very vague "before the end of the year" guesstimate. Odds are that nobody involved in the movie is going to conduct business during the holidays.
But yeah, I didn't see anything in Rudd's interview outright denying that he was in the running; just that he hadn't heard anything yet.
In other news, it's been confirmed that, in addition to filming at Pinewood's new stateside studios outside Atlanta, they're also going to do location shoots at an affluent Atlanta suburb, and also in San Francisco.
I'm curious if the shoots are in areas that are generic enough to fit any city in America, or if they're actually supposed to represent San Fran and/or Atlanta. It'd be kinda nice to actually get a superhero or two from Atlanta for a change.![]()
Rashida Jones is in the news again. this would be the perfect time to sign her for the Janet Van Dyne role!
No, them being a good pick for the role is a reason to cast them in a movie, which Jones is.
Again Paul Rudd denied he knows anything about Ant-Man...while smirking literally the entire time

Marvel is ready to name their next superhero as sources tell Variety that Paul Rudd is in early negotiations to star in “Ant-Man.”
Rudd, along with Joseph Gordon Levitt, was considered one of the front-runners for the part as Variety first reported.
Edgar Wright is helming and co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish. Marvel had no comment on the casting.
In the comics, the character’s alter-ego is Henry Pym, a brilliant scientist who invented a substance that allowed him to change his size and communicate with insects. One scenario that was rumored when Wright first came on is that he would focus on the later years of Ant-Man and add the character Scott Lang, a crook who steals Pym’s technology and becomes the new Ant-Man. This may hint at the idea that both Rudd and Gordon Levitt could potentially become involved in the film, although this idea as of right now seems unlikely.
Kevin Feige will produce for Marvel.
Rudd was always an interesting choice since he is known more for his comedic roles than action-heavy roles. The choice feels a lot like when the company went with Robert Downey Jr. to play Iron Man. Downey didn’t have the look of an action hero, but shared more of Tony Stark’s personality which led to him being tapped for the role.
The same might be said for this decision in what Wright and Marvel were looking for.
Rudd is repped by UTA and was last seen in Universal’s “This is 40.”
So glad it's not Levitt. That dude is overrated as ****.
