Cool cool cool.

Wonder what they do with Wasp

Wasp is gonna be the girlfriend of Scott Lang. Though, they may change it up to have her be Pym's daughter as well, or just another character in the film with no ties, romantic or not, to either.

Look up the 2005 script for this film.

Their plan for this film predates the ENTIRE MCU.

The story is based on "To Steal An Ant-Man", and features Scott Lang stealing the Ant/Giant-Man tech from Hank Pym, who is now older and LONG since retired.

Guys head over to CBM, people are losing their minds over there.:lmao:

Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas in one film...just thinking about it makes me feel more excited about it than ever.

I'm excited for this take since I've accepted that Marvel is embracing the idea of doing things differently than the comics.

Iron Man 3 proved that.

I'm just shocked at the fact that no one saw this coming. Edgar Wright made it clear YEARS ago that they wanted to go this route.

Only after they announced that Pym wouldn't create Ultron was it all but confirmed they were still doing it this way.

Thankfully my fandom of Ant-Man only goes as far as me liking his powerset and role as an Avenger. If it's Hank or Scott under the mask, it doesn't really matter to me.

But, I could see Pym fans getting upset over this (especially after the Ultron announcement).

But, nevertheless, I'll remain excited for this movie. If anything, my concerns aren't about the characterizations, but that this movie may stick to the IM1 formula a little too closely.

Didn't expect this so soon, great to see Marvel has stuck to doing their own announcements lately too. Pumped. I know people will be weeping in their chairs for a while but there'll be a year to get over it. Very interested to see how this plays out.

Wonder how skeevy Pym will come off in this, considering Michael Douglas tends to come off very... well, skeevy.

Now that we know for sure that they are going with "Old Pym", I'm 1000% sure that we'll see Pym and Howard Stark create A.I., making JARVIS, and later Ultron, possible.

And that's where Pym's "redemptive" arc will come in.

He'll probably feel responsible for the events of 'Age of Ultron', and this film will show him coming to terms with that.

I doubt he'll even be mentioned in AOU

I think the redemptive arc is for Scott Lang not Pym.

Seriously hoping they dont make Pym a bad guy. Especially since he doesnt get to create ultron, or be in the avengers.

Oh yeah, Pyms definitively going to have a role in creating Ultron. No matter what Marvel wants to say. He'll (Douglas) will probably have a role in destroying him too, who knows lol.

i am sure douglas will own the role.. but i am sad to not see a younger pym..

Indeed. This isn't even the older Michael Douglas of "One Night as McCool's" or even "It runs in the family". These days he literally looks like Kirk Douglas during his stroke years - like Kirk Douglas in "It runs in the family".

Unless they go with the Jeff Bridges route to CGI his face to make him appear 30-40 years younger in flashbacks like in Tron: Legacy.

From 2006:

Well, the thing is that what we want to do, the idea that we have for the adaptation is to actually involve both. Is to have a film that basically is about Henry Pym and Scott Lang, so you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60's, in sort of "Tales to Astonish" mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang's story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him. So it's like an interesting thing, like the "Marvel Premiere" one that I read which is Scott Lang's origin, it's very brief like a lot of those origin comics are, and in a way, the details that are skipped through in the panels and the kind of thing we'd spend half an hour on.

Hey bro, I used that quote in an article I made, is that cool with you or should I remove it?

I could easily see them making Pym a former SHIELD scientist/operator in SHIELD's infancy and give him some type of connection to Howard Stark and/or Nick Fury.

I imagined Pym being in his mid fifties... But almost 70? C'mon...

He'll be 70 before the movie's done filming.

I'm telling ya, Betty White for Janet.. Woohooo!
