The hype machine is so dormant for Ant-Man. Civil War, hel, even Doctor Strage overshadows it.
Dr. Strange has a hype machine? We've seen nothing from it.

I think the marketing is fine. The trailer has a lot of people's interest and the big marketing push will start next month. There's nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I don't think there's much hype for Dr. Strange at all right now. I've certainly seen more people talking about Ant-Man than it.

DS is my most anticipated film next year but def no hype for that at all yet.

They played the trailer to Ant Man during the season finale of Agents of SHIELD.

I find it interesting how the final fight is supposed to
be set within a little girl's bedroom.

It's a little odd, yet it is a very fascinating decision. There truly is a lot you can do when your main protagonist can shrink to the size of an insect

If they get this right I think the GA will love it. I love the idea. Having Thomas the Tank Engine in the trailer was genius!

And hey it is just like a real traintop battle but with some extra creativity!

It is Ant-Man we are talking about. There is nothing better than having a fight in children's playroom with lots of toys. LOL

They also played the trailer during The Blacklist season finale.
I thought that was nice cross pollination of continuity Since James Spader plays Ultron in AOU.

But they were in WALL STREET together. Gecko molded many a mind there. :cwink:

Maybe Douglas as Pym could still have had a hand in creating Spader's Ultron in some way. I'll reserve judgment until ANT-MAN is out.

If it's true it's going to be the Iron Man vs Iron Monger fight on drugs! I can't wait for it!

^Lmao!!!

I also read that
there will be a fight in a falling briefcase where Antman and Yellowjacket duke it out in the midst of things like car keys and smartphones, and during the climax the Thomas the Train set is supposed to grow to be the size of a real train or something.
Drugs? Yep that's what I'm thinkin'!

Because that'll be a very personal location to Scott Lang

yeah personally I'll be happy if there's no "the world is gonna end/ millions are gunna die!" plot

As long as the movie is good, I don't care whether millions are gunna die or not. :woot:

I rather liked the trailers and can understand why Marvel isn't pushing too hard just yet. I know it's early, but I wonder what the general feeling is with regard to box office draws. I don't think it's mission critical for this particular movie as I don't really see a second Ant-Man movie being made and think of this as a setup for CW.

I have some really old Avengers/Tales to Astonish (vintage mid 1960s) that feature Ant-Man/Giant-Man/Wasp (Janet). I understand that Janet probably isn't going to be around, but I'd sure like to see a Giant-Man appearance in this movie or in CA:CW.

I'll probably post some of my old Tales to Astonish mags (where Giant-Man [Pym] has the red suit with the funny little antennas) on my website this week and will let people know when I do.

Same here. I want some smaller, more personal stories like Iron Man and the first Thor. Those work better than the entire population being in jeopardy, especially for character introductions.

One of the only Jane Foster moments I enjoyed in the first (or second) Thor movies was Thor explaining Asgard (Science and Magic or something like that) to her.

I'd be fine with more interesting character moments.....and then millions are gunna die.....:cwink:

Haha, yeah, those moments between Thor and Jane are great.

I'm talking more about the finale though. The small town Thor vs. Destroyer battle is more powerful than Thor vs. Malekith for me. Tony vs. Stane was more intimate and personal than the Iron Legion vs. Extremis soldiers, right up until Pepper fell, then it got personal. I want to see a smaller scale battle between our hero and our villain, where the personal stakes outweigh the worldly stakes. Hopefully we get a bit of that in Ant-Man.

So the Frost Giants being in jeopardy is nothing to you?

Sorry, I'm being deliberately awkward, I know what you mean. If Ant-Man is ultimately about a man trying to save his daughter (as implied in the trailers) then the stakes are plenty high enough, and it has every chance of being a good film. Marvel doesn't want to fall into the trap of trying to make the stakes greater in each subsequent film, as it would end up being ridiculous.

I'm still super excited for this film but the bad thing about the July release is no new Marvel films till next May which sucks. I really need MS to start cranking out 3-4 a year haha

Touché. But yeah, while the Frost Giants as a race are at stake the fight came down to Thor and Loki on the rainbow bridge. And before that an intimate moment where Thor attempted to sacrifice himself for his friends. Not a huge city battle with cannon fodder. The stakes were high, but the fight was intimate. There's a time and place for the big spectacle battles, but I get a lot of enjoyment over these more focused conflicts.

And you're right, as long as Scott is fighting to save his daughter the stakes will be high enough.

I think the stakes will be personal and world saving.

The technology is making Darren Cross mentally unstable

Cross seems to want to punish Scott and the Pym family. Cross also seemingly wants to sell the Yellowjacket technology which would be dangerous.

Protecting their loved ones and stopping a increasingly crazy villain distribute dangerous technology is good enough jeopardy
