I have a black acquaintance who is swearing off black women. His complaint is that black women have too much attitude and negativity.

I argued that that every race has drawbacks but he wasn't trying to hear it.

He's considering a Puerto Rican girl or maybe even a white girl.

Seem like a grass is always greener type thing to me.

I honestly wonder if the whole freed slaves/born free narrative in the matrix had something to do with it. It isn't like there are a lot of black actors in Australia where they filmed most of the movies so they specifically hired black actors for these roles and flew them to Australia to film.

On the other hand it may just be because many of the born free people in Zion are all related because they are descended from a few people woken from the Matrix by previous 'one' generations ago.

I always assumed there were so many black people in Zion because you have to be unaccepting of your reality to break free from the Matrix. Most of the people broken free from the Matrix seemed to come from America, and African-Americans are a pretty damn unsatisfied group, as far as our current reality is concerned. Ask enough people which pill to take, and you'd probably have more blacks than whites taking the red pill.

Your acquaintance sounds like a self hating black man. Not all black people are a like. Not every black women has a so called 'attitude'. How would he feel about certain negative racial stereotypes being applied to him?

If he is having a problem with black women it probably down to himself. Perhaps he is attracted to these types of women but isn't concious enough of this fact to avoid it. Perhaps he just one of those guys who don't like women who disagree with him so thinks that they are negative when really they aren't. Perhaps he just dates terrible women.

He needs to broaden the types of women he dates but that shouldn't be based on racist stereotypes.

Some stereotypes have validity.

Many black women pride themselves on being strong and independent.

Some times that can be good and a black woman will demand respect and find ways to survive and other times it can be bad with black women cutting down black men who are lacking in looks, money, or power.

But I agree that there are plenty of reasonable black women. No one should give up on an entire race just because of a few bad experiences.

I have to wonder if he found a submissive white woman if it would bring out the worst in him. Most guys who seek such power and advantage probably abuse it.

For me, a woman and her man should share power equally. There needs to be balance. Too much power in either party's hands begins to look like a master-slave "relationship" and to me that defeats the point of having a healthy relationship with another human being.

I never thought about it that way, but it makes perfect sense. Too bad their savior was Keanu Reeves instead of Will Smith like originally planned. Damn you Wild Wild West!

I don't know. People never stopped loving Connery, and Will Smith circa 1999 was still riding off of the successes of Bad Boys, Independence Day, enemy of the State, and the first Men in Black.

Will made Wild Wild West instead of the Matrix, but both movies grossed $100,000,000+ at the box office. And WWW was kinda awful. The Matrix probably would've made more money had Will done it.
