I agree. He's been back roughly as long as he was dead at this point, and now they're killing him off (or sending him away somewhere) again. Just... why?
My guess is that they're taking him out of the picture for the interval between the Thor movie and the Avengers movie. Both Iron Man and Cap were out of the picture before coming back in a big way just before their respective movies ("World's Most Wanted" before Iron Man 2 and Bucky as Cap before "Captain America"), so they're following that formula with Thor before Avengers. They're kind of doing something similar with the Hulk by splitting him and Banner up before Avengers, too. But I'm guessing that by the time the Avengers movie rolls around, Thor and the Hulk will both make big comebacks.
And he looks like a rejected Galactus herald.
