Hey, guys! I’m Motley, and I’m new here on the SuperHeroHype Forums, so feel free to welcome me.

Batman Forever is one of my favourite movies, simply because of its interesting production history, cinematography, acting, and deleted scenes. Especially the deleted scenes.

Speaking of which, I have a petition going on right now to get the full director’s cut of the film released to the public ASAP. I’m sure some of you lot will be supportive of restoring Schumacher’s vision. Here’s the link, if you are most intrigued:

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I have some chromatic prototype prints, dated 1995 produced by Signs&Glassworks in Vista, CA. The images are from Batman forever, I have not been able to find any information on them. Does anyone out there have a clue?

I was curious if anybody still had access to the original Batman Forever fanedit?? It did not contain all deleted scene's but was a lot shorter and did a great job of working the danny elfman score. Anyone??

The thread discussing worst performances in comic book films made me think of how romance was handled for this movie.

Batman on scene, instead of going to where the action is immediately we get the shoehorned introduction of Chase because Batman chose to go to the ground first, or vise versa, and she talks about rodents in a horny manner.

Her next appearance is she summons Batman to flirt with him, a summoning that was done during twilight and happened immediately after that when it was almost nightfall. She's horny again, gives one line of exposition or two, and Gordon comes in so Batman would leave.

Bruce Wayne receives a message from Riddler and he goes to doctor horny, she's not acting professionally in her office with someone asking for her professional opinion, and she's obviously fascinated with bats. Bruce invites her to the circus.

After the circus stuff, Batman goes to her apartment to receive a looong kiss from her, and then she breaks it to say "there is another man" and he's happy.

Next thing you know is he wants to tell her he's Batman.


There is nothing as an attempt as the talk in the street like in Batman Returns, or a dinner date after being interested in what his guest has to say in the first movie.....
Why were people supposed to take that romance seriously?

That's another movie that has rushed love. At least they have some conversations that feel like a build up for a relationship albeit being rushed, and some conversations that feel like they are trying to work something later....

Or maybe it's just Emma Stone trying to be useful in her role as Gwen Stacy that made romance in that movie better than Batman Forever.

Simply because it was Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman circa 1995. The good looking protagonist and the hot damsel.

It's best to just roll with some of the decisions in the Schumacher movies. It's all surface style, glamour and sensuality... no real substance.

It makes me glad that B&R dropped the romance bit.
Now I wonder how will romance be handled under the penning of this script's writer in the Titans TV show.

I watched Batman Forever again just a few weeks ago. For me Kilmer made a great Batman/Bruce Wayne. I wish he'd done at least one more (not the appalling Batman & Robin, but something with some edge to it). And he looked absolutely fantastic in the Batsuit.

Same here, I would have liked to see one more from him. I even think Clooney could have done well with decent material.

I never hated either Kilmer or Clooney in the role... not a patch on Keaton, but they did admirable work given both the material and direction they were working with.

Kilmer in particular could have made his mark on the role with a sequel that had a better script.

I understand the "stupid playboy" thing to throw people off of Bruce being Bats, but I do feel that that can come across as try hard (as Batman's personality is an extreme, people can be competent and not be assumed to be Batman). I feel that out of a majority of the live action versions of Bruce, Val was the only one I could take seriously as a CEO (understanding that BAD publicity does not help your company). He was troubled, and most of the psychological Bruce scenes never made it in the film... like the book.

I'd be very interested to see the Red Book fan edit of BF which puts a lot of that excised material back.

I actually quite like it... it's no masterpiece like the Elfman/Walker stuff but it fits the tone of the movies. As Goldenthal says, it's like something a 6 year old would sing when playing with his action figures.
