Batman Forever The Official Batman Forever Thread - Part 2

While I think that Jones' performance is horrendous, something has come to my attention. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I might have to concede a point to CountOrlok in regards to the coin debate. In Detective #513, Two-Face is keeping Batman his prisoner in his halfway-house. He flips his coin and the good side comes up in that scan that Orlok posted, so for the "seventh time this week" he won't kill Batman. But then, a few minutes later, he decides to flip his coin again, this time the scarred side comes up, so he decides he has to kill Batman now!

Now, if I remember correctly, Two-Face was taking his duality to extremes in that arc (having two sets of henchmen, for instance) so I'm not sure if this was just a lapse on Gerry Conway's part, or if it was intentional that he could pull something like that (flip the coin a second time) but I would say that, overall, Two-Face is not meant to be able to do that kind of stuff. Also, my memory could be fuzzy, but while I enjoy Gerry Conway, he would often have Batman doing stuff that seemed a little out of character. Joker too. But I might be confusing Conway with someone else.

@ CountOrlok, yes I am saying different days made the difference. It is like saying will I rob a bank on Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday and so on and tossing the coin to decide each day.

@ I Am The Knight, do you have the comic at hand? I don't have a scanner so I can't post this. I believe he tosses his coin for Batman to die, and it says no. Then it goes past midnight, 2am which is technically a new day, and he tosses the coin again to decide if Batman can die when he knows the Police are coming.

I'm not familiar with all of Conway's work on Batman and how out of character he did other villains. I do know his work on Spider-Man is excellent. But I do not think he broke any rules with Two Face there.

WHOOPS! My bad. I checked the issue again. The second flip is not to kill Batman, but for Two-Face and his gang to make their "move". They were gonna rob Duo Records. No wonder I didn't flip myself when I read the issue.

I'll see if I can post a scan anyway, but yeah. Apparently Two-Face was flipping his coin once a day to determine if Batman would live or die. So Orlok is wrong again on this one it seems.

As a kid I watched BF alomost million time and years later I noticed that Jon Favreau was in this film. I noticed this while I was listening to Schumacher mention him. :o

Really? I suppose he plays some character in the background, maybe in the Nygmatech party scene?

He's in the background when Bruce watches security footge at WE with Gordon. I think hes one of the police officers.

He's just some random suit we see when we're introduced to Eddie.

What does it matter how many times he flips his coin? As long as he accepts the judgement of the coin, until the next coin flip. It would be only out of character if he went against what the coin decided.

So all this bally-hoo about Tommy Lee Jones flipping his coin multiple times is just silly. Each time, he accepted the judgement of the coin, which is why he had to flip the coin again. What does it matter if he waits 24 hours or 24 minutes or 24 seconds?

It makes the coin quite pointless. If you keep flipping the coin again and again seconds apart you will get the answer you want. So there really is no point in using it at all. All it's doing is causing a brief delay in doing what you're inevitable going to do.

Flipping a coin once a day to make a decision is accepting the judgement of a coin on a daily basis. Different day, different coin toss. Like reading a horoscope every day. Each day brings something new.

Totally agree. :2face:

Hence it was out of character of Two-Face keep flipping the coin - you flip once you accept the outcome.

I can't believe that laundry scene was included in the film. So absurd.

Yeah, it was the 90s...everybody was doing that

Yeah after watching Forever I said "that's how I will do my laundry from now on." :woot:

After I saw that scene, I wanted to get a Mtn Dew, and go tear up the streets on my skateboard, brahhhhhh.

Question #1, why doesn't Dick just put them in the dryer?

Question #2, was that supposed to show how good of a crime fighter he could be?

Question #3, why did he put white socks in with his dark clothes?

Question #4, how many pairs of gray sweatpants does he own?

#1. Because he's not used to being waited on.

#2. No, just how much of a badass he is...at laundry.

#3. I do that too. Probably doesn't use any whites, other than his socks.

#4. Probably a lot, since he trains, brahh.

Schumacher said on the bluray WB thought Kidman wasn't sexy enough to be in the film...

Prfff! She was very sexy!
