The Official Boxing Thread!!! - Part 4

Floyd Mayweather is a much better boxer then Crawford, who himself is wild all the time. Floyd's defense and speed flummoxed an injured Manny, who was past his prime and had recently been slept.

Manny not being "tough to figure out" is meaningless, because he was an all time athlete, with a combination of speed and power not rivaled in boxing. Look what he did to Cotto, and what Floyd did with an even worse Cotto.

Manny is much wilder than Crawford's ever been. Didn't matter if he was wide open against a bunch of guys not fast enough to hit him though.

And after Floyd battered his hands, making any comparison between them finishing guys off is a moot point. Obviously he's not the same guy who was knocking plenty of people out early in his career. And Manny hasn't exactly been a destroyer ever since his PED usage came under scrutiny...

Maybe I'm just being negative about Crawford but I am not sold on him. Right now, I think he beats Manny but fully roided up Manny KO's Crawford. Gamboa wobbled Crawford, who just went up two weight classes to fight him. Other than Gamboa(again, went up two weights classes to fight him) and Postal(who isn't mobile at all), his resume isn't that strong. Sad to say, I honestly think Broner would give Crawford problems as well.

How many times was Manny slept in his prime?

How many times did he fight anyone with serious hand speed in his prime?

Floyd the person I actually can't stand, but the boxer is a genius. Seriously. In his prime he was like a surgeon hitting body parts at precision pace. In his prime you would have been afraid to fight him. Look at him vs Gatti that was scary good.

You most likely don't know Floyd the person. You know the character he plays.

I actually don't think he has. I think the closest he got to fighting one was Shane Mosley who was over the hill when they fought.

Exactly. Even someone like Khan would've given him some problems early. He would've gotten knocked out of course, but it would've been an interesting 4-5 rds lol...

Better then his? No one. That is because Manny has top 5 all time handspeed in his prime. Though he did fight Oscar, corpse and all. He also fought Morales and Barrera pre-prime.

I didn't say better, I said serious. Like a good attribute.

By the way, Zab, Floyd, Khan, Rigondeaux and a prime Mosley all had just as fast, or faster, hand speed than Manny. That doesn't even account for Leonard and Roy Jones, or even prime Tyson and Ali pound for pound. That's just off the top of my head without really thinking about it.

Mayweather yes. The rest... eh. Maybe Zab,Shane and Rigo. Not Khan. You are underrating Manny's handspeed, a lot. One of the reasons why his fights with Marquez were so good was his handspeed was ridiculous. Manny's size did not hurt. That he was able to move from 112 to 154 was his hand speed, movement speed and strength. All things you seem to think the 5'5 dude that won a legit LMW title didn't have.

There is no way Leonard had faster hands. He fought in the 80s. Ali and Tyson were HWs. They had great handspeed for HWs. They did not have faster hands then Manny. :funny:

You are seriously underestimating Khan. I don't like the guy but he has/had some of the fastest hands in the game.

You're overrating Manny's speed because everybody he fought in his prime was slow as ****.

Zab was faster than Floyd, that's why the first 4-5 rds of their fight was the only time I've seen Floyd get outboxed pretty handily. It wasn't about strategy, he just couldn't time him. If Zab had better discipline and conditioning he would've won.

Khan definitely had faster hands, it's pretty much all he's had at his disposal to compete. And I said "pound for pound" with the Heavyweights smh, because you said All-time. Obviously they're not little guys, but Tyson in particular was incredibly fast for his size.

And what does Leonard fighting in the 80s have to do with anything? That's like saying Roy wasn't faster because he dominated in the 90s. Leonard had some of the fastest combinations I've ever seen, and would've whooped Manny's ass given the chance...

I can't wait to hear the complaining after that fight. LOL.

$10 per punch lol.

How much are Boxing/MMA PPV's normally in the US?

:wow:

Really expensive, if they were that sort of price in the UK, I'd never buy any.
Yeah. They have made them far less desirable. I only do it because we have multiple people chip in.

Press conference was entertaining as expected. As everyone know they'll be more entertaining than the fight itself.

Lol at Mayweather saying he'd step into the Octagon, or use smaller gloves, lololol. No he wouldn't, expect similar stipulations that he used against Maidana for this fight.

Gloves maybe but Floyd is nowhere near dumb enough to set foot anywhere near an Octagon.
