yea lana would be a good thing to get more into his youth in smallville life. But i wouldnt mind seeing both lana and cat appear in new film series. Lana as old friend/flame which clark is over. And cat could just be someone who is after him like lois and clark cat was. But clark only has eyes for lois.

Ah i knew she was in something i seen before. i saw her in SGA.

In an effort to reboot my casting choices due to my previous ones aging and/or knowing by the time the new film starts rolling age will have then set it, my new choice for Jimmy Olsen is Clark Duke.

This might be because I just saw Hot Tub Time Machine, but I think Jimmy should be funny and Duke could be a nicely updated Jimmy for the 21st century.

My cast would include:

Perry White: Brian Cox
Lana Lang: Jewel Staite/ Rachelle Lefevre
Cat Grant: Natasha Hendrige / Heather Graham (guess which one is older, i had no idea)
Ron Troupe: Mos Def/ Morris Chesnut/ Taye Diggs

Ok, i've made some changes to my list:

Lex Luthor: Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice)
Perry White: John Mahoney
Lana Lang: Jewel Staite/ Rachelle Lefevre/ Alicia Witt

Cat Grant: Natasha Hendrige
Ron Troupe: Mos Def/ Morris Chesnut/ Taye Diggs

The main difference being John Mahoney vs Brian Cox. I like both choices but looking back at pics of classic Perry I think Mahoney is a better fit, also after seeing DAn in Real Life, he has a nice warmth to him but can also come across as gruff. I'd like to see the DP staff have a nice dynamic (almost family like). I'd especially like a good relationship between Perry and Lois.

My other addition is Alicia Witt as a potential Lana. She just has a fantastic look for lana:

She looks younger than she is also, which is always a great asset.

Also someone suggested this and it came out of left field but Jeffrey Donovan as Lex Luthor is unlikely but inspired casting. He is so awesome on Burn Notice and can easily shift from one character to the next. He could play a very interesting Luthor. Though i don't know what he looks like with a bald head.

so here they are with images:

Here are some names based off of hot "It" actors at the moment

Lois Lane: Alexa Davelos
Lex Luthor : Mark Strong(Sherlock Holmes. Yeah he's in GL but this is for fun)
Jor El : Liam Neeson
Lara : Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans)
Brainac: Chistopher Waltz (Inglourious Bastards)
Perry White : Sam Lang(Avatar, Public Enemies)
Johnathan Kent : Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek)
Jimmy Olsen: Thomas Sangster( Nowhere Boy, Finding Neverland, Love Actually)
Lana Lang: Rachel Nichols(G.i. Joe, Alias)

i like your picks for lana, johnathan, perry, brainaic, lara, and lois.

I think the key to casting the DP staff is to pick people who can bring some real personality/character to the roles and not come across flat or boring (most of the characters in SR came across this way to me except for James marsden). These people might not get the most screen time in the first film but you should still feel something for them and want to see more of them.

A character like Ron Troupe might not be the morst interesting, but casting someone like Mos Def to play him would immediately make the character more appealing/interesting, he could give him a much more distinct personality. And he could add some nice wit/humor to the DP.

Also with Cat Grant, you not only need someone who's attractive but who's got a good strong personality. natasha hendridge i think would bring in both those aspects of teh character and since she's a little older now, you could play with how she's characterized in teh comic now, she's a gossip columnist who's kind of a cougar. While Natsha isn't old enough to be a cougar you could characterize her as someone a little past her physical prime but still thinks she's hot stuff (and she is still quite attractive). You could also play with her former characterization from the 90s as a potential love interests for clark aside from lois. Not that clark is interested but that she's a little into clark or at least flirts with him.

I really like the idea of making the DP feel alive, vibrant with life. I also think people who've done both serious roles and some comedic stuff would be the best to cast as seeing these characters interact could be fun and a little quirky if handled right.

Also i went for John Mahoney b/c he's also done both comedy and more serious roles. He could bring that to the role of Perry quite well i think.

It's funny that their are so many good choices for lana when only 2-6% of the population is naturally red-headed. I could go for most of the actresses here suggested for lana. while i think a more famous person, like isla will get selected there are some great less known actresses have been mentioned before that also have a great look for lana, Jewel Staite, Rachelle Lefevre, Alicia Witt, Rachel Nicols not to mention plenty others.

I think Jimmy Olsen, as a secundary character, can be used to appeal to a specific demographic. I mean to appeal to a younger audience.
One of the biggest male teen star right now is Zac Efron:

He is now in the transition from teen movies to bigger pictures and I believe he would be perfect to play a young intern photographer at the Daily Planet.

Another possibility is Michael Cera is now a rising star, and he is very popular with a younger demographic

These two are talented actors, either you want a more confident or a more dorky Jimmy, I wouldn't choose any other than one these two

I still think Harrison Ford as Perry White would be interesting.

i could see hoffman as perry that is a good pick there. i too like ford, but i dont really see him getting tied down to a trilogy film these days.

I think I might have found the perfect Lana Lang. IMHO of course!!

Ashley Williams Ladies and Gentlemen. Just saw her on How I Met Your Mother recently and thought to myself why not her? She won't get the part but it's another suggestion.
