I wasn't aware mate :D I loved him but each to their own eh? :D

Would you want Smallville to go into the motion picture world when it comes to an end? I'd be happy with that aswell.

To be honest i'm even happy if we do get a proper Superman Reboot aswell.

i would love to see smallville end with a nice big movie but i know that isnt likely ever an option. i still say the best thing to do is a full clear on reboot/restart so it clears away things so we can start fresh.

I'd be nice if Smallville ends abruptly and they take all the tapes and films and throw them into a big fire. :awesome:

or if you hate it so much just dont watch it there are plenty of us who want it to continue :awesome:

I think a reboot is the best option as far as the movie series goes

I dont watch Smallville because its a piece of crap. I only watch an episode if another hero guest stars, like Zatanna for instance.

going clear new start is really the best thing to do in my opinion. better to have a fresh start and all that.

I think you're right they should have just done that in the first place especially considering what Batman Negins did for the Batman franchise.

I think Smallville has taken liberties with the franchise, adding in so many elements that have the wrong time line.

I don't like the fact lex and lois and infact everyone know clark - in '5 years' when he dons the cape, we will still look exactly the same and they'll be like "hey that's clark" But, i can see why it's enjoyable.

Season 1 - introduction to smallville characters, focus on a young clark developing a few powers, coping with it at high school.
Sharing his secrets with his dad, mum and to some extent Lana.

Season 2 - Finishing high school, a few powers properly enhanced, his relationship with lana, school friends etc - does he excel in sport or hold back. A few high profile rescue missions - stopping a train, school bus, rebuilding after a storm.
Discovering his ship, and clues to his heritage.

Season 3 - making it big in the world, travelling, journalism, helping people in africa in the middle nowhere, aid relief. Learning more about himself, what he can do.
More discoveries via his craft, more powers developed.

season 4 - clark has been sighted a few times displaying powers, he is big news on internet, a buzz about this super man - but only nothing more than a myth.

They can still introduce characters - like other heroes, but not in smallville, like, clark is out in a random city, learning, having experiences and a situation occurs, he goes to help but a hero flashes infront of him and saves the day - making clark think.

Have clark spend time in metropolis with a lesser known paper or media group and he still uses his powers in metropolis, this gets tongues wagging and you can introduce planet staff who are to report on this mysterious being.

But i don't watch the show, so my comment is pointless really.

If i am honest, is a smallville movie came out, i would watch it, but only because there would be a diferent take of superman out there. I'd like to see a different suit too - with a collar!!!

Smallville is a combination of the following:
- Teenage angst: I want you but for some stupid reason we cant be together. When i decide that we can be together you ll decide that we cant be together for some other reason.
- Random teen gets powers from meteor rocks.
- Someone always busts into Lex's office to talk about something. Lex faces towards the wall, poors some whiskey and discusses.
- Lex's father is the devil, Clark's parents are the best. Everyone is jealous of him. Why cant anybody love Leeeeeeex?
- Clark tell me your secret. You have a secret. Tell me your secret. I know you have a secret. Its a secret. Secret. SECRET. SECRET. TELL ME YOUR SECRET. I WANT TO KNOW YOUR SECRET. YOUR SECRET KEEPS US APART.
- Clark is almost a middle aged man and he still doesnt fly or wear the suit because that's the premise of this ******ed show.

Wow. Some angst in there yourself :P. I take it you haven't watched Smallville in a long time.

Smallville is esential superman year one right now. This season and some of last season have gotten rid of all teen angst. It's pretty good actually. He doesn't have the traditional costume but i'm not sure it would even work in the setting of the show. They did a lot things right during production such as introducing great villains in imaginative ways, brainiac is a favorite, also bizarro. Characters we've never seen in live action before. Also it's given us a solid view of what clark's powers would look like. Example, heat vision, actual heat emanating from his eyes. Also x-ray vision as an actual x-ray. Pretty inspired stuff. Also if you're paying attention, SR used the smallville version of heat vision rather than red laser coming out of his eyes.

I could see this costume working for smallville,

it seems to follow the same design principles as the green arrow suit. It's not a bad design at all unless you're a traditionalist.

Does anyone know if someone from the show actually designed it or was it just a fan? Seems pretty good for some random fan to come up with. It looks like maybe green arrow designed it for him to help him get back to the red/blue blur roots...hehe. I don't know but i'd like it in the show.

Amen to that.

I'm not going to sit here and say Smallville has the best actors, or the most drama, or is the most addictive show on TV. It doesn't rank up there with Lost or BSG or the like, but let's not be too harsh on it. Smallville has helped to keep the wheels of the Superman brand turning and as superhero fans, that's something we should be thankful for.

In it's earlier seasons, the show was admittedly very 'teen' and angsty - and guess why? Clark Kent was a teenager, he was in High School, and that's what the show explored.

In the last few years the show has moved on to bigger and better places, and this season in particular has been fantastic. It's now mostly set in Metropolis, and the writings and storylines are much more adult. They've introduced some great new characters along the way, and also some existing ones. The upcoming Absolute Justice 2-part episode (featuring Hawkman and Dr Fate to name but a few) is just another example of how the network is successfully using Smallville to help publicise not just Superman, but a lot of other DC Superheroes who have never successfully made it to TV or movies.

Also, they're putting their own spin on the Superman mythology. Rather than just have this guy suddenly go from a confused teen to this perfect man in a cape and red/blue suit, we're learning what drives Clark Kent. He makes mistakes. He's confused at times. He doesn't know where he's going in life. But over the last few seasons, he's starting to realise what he's capable of and what his place in the world should be. He's creating a symbol for himself, and in doing so, has come up with the current black suit, the colour of which owes a lot to his mood and feelings at the end of last season when he blamed himself for a death. In time this will change - as part of Clark's path towards his future - and the traditional red/blue suit will make an appearance soon. And in terms of phsyicality, Tom Welling fits the bill perfectly - he has the height, build, look, and more importantly, the kindness and humbleness which Superman exhibits.

Even Smallville fans like myself don't think it's the best show on TV, but it's fun, and it's entertaining - and I think it gets a lot of flak at times that is undeserved. The show is still full of promise, and not many shows can say that after 9 seasons.

I found SV's Brainiac very good. That guy was creepy as hell!

As for Superman's powers, his X-ray vision isnt necessarily an x-ray, its just a power to see through walls. Smallville took it by the letter. Same with heat vision. Laser or not, he emits heat from his eyes. Laser just makes it easier to see and draw, not to mention that his eyes light up when he uses it or when he is very angry.

How is that any less cheesy than the original suit? Also, Green Arrow's suit is actually a faithful adaptation of one of the suits he's used in the comics.

I don't know if just looks like it would fit in the smallville world you know? I can't see him wearing the red trunks and cape in the show and it making much sense, like why would he make those choices for a costume? Just saying this looks like something that green arrow would design for him. Fits in the the other costumes. Not saying it's great, but i can see it fitting into the aesthetics of the show more than the original suit.

I prefer the original to show up, but just don't see it happening.

It's also a nice balance bw the red and blue without being overwhelmed by either. I've see plenty of ideas for updating the superman costume but none doing a good job balancing the color. The blue often becomes too prominent once the red trunks are removed. However this design, is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, balances the color well, and justifiably allows the trunks to be removed. It also eliminates the need for a cape in using the red on his side/back. It seems like it replaces the color change a cape would make in that case. This is all just my opinion but if it wasn't superman i think people would be more open to the design. B/c it's superman most people just dismiss the idea of something different. In either case the suit does seem like it would fit in on Smallville. Just my thoughts.

You can't have a capeless Superman. When a kid wants to pretend they're Superman, what's the first thing they do? They tie a bath towel around their neck and pretend it's a cape. The trunks you can get away with ditching if you find some other way to break up the blue, like in that picture, but if you lose the cape it's just plain not Superman's silhouette anymore.

You make a good point about the cape. I wonder what it would look like on that costume? Hmm...yeah i remember as a kid running around in a supes cape...the good old days :)
