Gerard Butler struck me as Bane but that's a film that Nolan's responsible for. Anyway, I think they won't be goign with Zod and focus more on Brainiac. Maybe.

So... news of a female lead are heating up. We have Rosemond Pike, Diane Kruger and another actress up for the role (can't remember her from anywhere?) But the same report says they are not short-listed to play Lois Lane?

Lets just wait and see guys I'm sure eventually more will become clear. There's always rumours and panic when a film is casting, it happened with Batman Begins, it happened with Superman Returns, its happening now and it will happen again in future. I honestly think we're panicking for nothing.

I put her on there at someone elses' suggestion since I really didn't have anyone in mind for the role at the time. I'm not really very familiar with her work.

Butler would make an awesome Zod.

I want to see some big names popping up for Superman. Let's rival the Batman cast Dicaprio, Depp, Pitt, I guess Butler counts as a bigger name too. Perry White is bound to be a bigger name. People mentioned Harrison Ford, Robert Deniro, Al Pacino, Robert Redford, etc... Should be good stuff coming up.

I love your suggestions for BOTH sets of Clark's parents. Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be a fantastic villain (although I'm done with Lex Luthor in any shape or form). And Jackie Earle Haley wouldn't need much time in the makeup chair.

I was thinking about Pacino as Perry White. I still prefer Michael Keaton, but Pacino more than works.

Geena Davis would probably be a great Martha. She's around the right age for that role and from what I've seen of her in Stuart Little she can do the 'warm motherly' thing well, so she could be good.

I would definitly like Jon Hamm for Jor-El though. Since he missed out for Superman it would be great for him to play his biological father.


Although we don't actually know exactly how much of the main cast we'll actually see in this movie. There's a good chance we probably wont see any parents at-all in the film since he's going to be in a different country. Unless they do flashbacks or something.

Jon Hamm is my choice for Jor-El. Hamm is a fantastic actor more than capable of playing the role, I think he could pass for Cavill's father, and it's a great consolation prize. Hamm seemed too have the second biggest long term fan following for Superman after the Cavill fans and seeing the two together would be great.

Then, Joe Magniello could play Bizzaro.
