Agree completely. Which is why i'm glad we have someone like Snyder in a mix, who doesn't give a hoot about realism. He'll balance it out :p

I think Nolan will incorporate the elements of a heightened reality where he can and not where he can't. He's done it before. In The Prestige he didn't really go into the science of cloning too much, and neither did he go into the science of dreaming that much in Inception either.

I think they'll more than likely put Superman's abilities down to him being an alien and that's about it. The rest that can be explained will be.

Is there an option for "I'm good either way, as long it looks good"? Take the trunks away, and at his core, he is STILL Superman. Just because his suit won't necessarily reflect the past 73 years, doesn't mean that the man he is will change. I don't see the big deal. Don't sit here and tell me that I'm not a true Superman fan, because the 35 years of being one would beg to differ.

I'm good either way aswell, but I've never minded the trunks and find all the phobia about them kindof silly. I also think it's difficult to come up with a way of replacing them, since removing them and doing nothing else leaves the suit kindof bland looking.

I of course would rather they stay but if they are removed then there needs to be a good visual adjustment made to the costume to make up for it.

Yes, that would be the THIRD option!

geez......are we still going on about the trunks!!

we don't even have a full view of the costume to properly judge it by!

let's wait till then before deciding whether or not the costume is hurt by the lack of trunks.........

They should stay, and as my avatar shows they can look great if done correctly.

It goes both ways my friend. The suit could look great "if done correctly". :cwink:
Besides, I HIGHLY doubt that it's going to be blue, then the belt, and then nothing else. They will get the red in there some way or another. However, if they don't then that's fine and I'm confident that the suit is going to look awesome. People, we just have to come to realization that you can't make everyone happy.

Well, there's no aesthetic reason to be against them because they make the costume look better. Mostly the opposition is because they are felt to look too comic book-y.

Without them the color scheme is off balance

Subjective.

Look up the word.

While I agree the costume looks better with the trunks, that is entirely subjective.

We'll pick right up with you learning that the briefs aren't part of the pants.

Class dismissed.

I have a policy of not responding to yours or Sabaoth's posts because I consider you both to be trolls. There's no reason for you to even attempt to continue a dialogue with me. Either place me on ignore or just ignore my posts as I do with yours. We have nothing to discuss.

This is the last I'll post on this seemingly intimate topic, as I'm now just repeating myself. So, I'll be brief. ;)

I think it is best that you stop posting about it as well because you are verging on just as trollish as the original poster by playing dumb as if you don't know what is going on.

If it "pisses someone off" that they're called panties, then they need a reality check and to get a grip on life.

There are things in life that get under my skin. People driving slowly in the left hand lane, the budget crisis, etc. But whether someone has a different view about a comic book character's OLD costume (as in past tense, because it's no longer his costume) and uses a pejorative word to describe such costume should NOT be one of them. If you attach personal self worth to whether someone likes or dislikes your favorite comic book characters costume, the problem is with you, not the person that uses the pejorative term.

It just isn't registering with you so I'm begining to think you are thick so I'll spell it out for you 1 final time.

Panties are worn by women. The character we are talking about is called Superman.

Calling them panties once is excusable, but repeatedly saying it was done for 1 purpose & 1 purpose only. To get a reaction from people.. and not a good reaction either. Hense it was trolling.

Now, I couldn't give a rats ass what your opinion is on the matter of the trunks/no trunks is or your foolishness regarding people needing a reality check. What I do know is this, panties are worn exclusively by women. Fact. Men wear briefs or trunks. Fact. This isn't anything to do with the character this is just common knowledge. This is why calling them panties was a comment that was designed only to annoy & irritate people who are fans of the character that is undoubtedly a man.

This is a forum people visit to discuss their favourite comic book characters & thus they will obviously have an opinion on everything regarding that character what they like/dislike.

why are people surprised it is natural progression

does batman and magneto look like this in the movies?

both ditched the trunks and superman will follow

You may want to use examples of costumes going that route that ended up actually looking good.

All this fighting over trunks. :csad:

Quit whining you babies. :o

It's over more than that. People who want the trunks gone tend to want other classic aspects of Superman gone as well, as they find them all too comic book-y and juvenile.

IMO, they should be defiant instead of allowing a small group of people who find Superman lame to force needless and aesthetically ugly changes to the greatest superhero costume ever designed.

I've never seen anyone want anything other than the trunks/briefs/panties taken away from Superman.

I'm pretty sure any poll you could make would match what the current polling here is; most think they should stay, almost as many don't care one way or another, a very small minority wants them gone.

Who wants them gone is comic book fans who are embarrassed by them. The GA doesn't care. Taking them away is an admission that something is wrong with Superman's visual. It's pandering to people who think the character is silly. It's a loser move.
