Grow Superman ... Grow!

I know... the angles and perspective... Let's just say he is no giant.

Which reminds me, what is the difference between padding and a muscle suit?

Good question. Not sure. My assumption is that they are pretty much the same. The padding is what makes it a muscle suit I think. The MOS costume, if you want to consider it a muscle suit, is the best one I've ever seen though. Having said that, I hope Cavill pretty much looks the same when he's not wearing it. His physique was fairly imposing in Immortals, but he let himself go a bit while filming A Cold Light of Day. Still, I believe him when he said that, since then, he underwent a rigorous workout regimen for Man of Steel. He seems like a cool guy -- not the type to BS the fans.

If we take a tangent from the known Woody Allen height of 4'-2 and extrapolate the integer of the parabolic vector, I'm sure someone can figure Cavill's height + or - 7 inches.

interesting angles:

Oh no, he's short...

Of course he is prob standing on his tippy toes!

Does he really look 6-1? I know the tabs say he is, but then thaey say Stallone is 6ft too. (as well)

Those set pics look like he is maybe 5-10 5-11. Anyone see "Whatever Works" ? not very tall there

Please explain how you can possibly come to that conclusion based on the pictures we've seen so far.

:whatever:

Henry Cavill is for sure 6"1, heck i'd even push for 6"2. Kellen Lutz, who is 6"1 is standing on the right in the picture below, and Cavill is seriously the same height as him, possibly an inch taller. This height talk is seriously coming up again?

Thank heavens for apple crates!

How do we know Lutz is 6'1"?

they could all be hobbits for all we know... it is the movies after all!

Larry David is 5"11 and Henry is much taller than him, dont know why people are still complaining over Cavill's height once again, seems stupid

I don't know. After watching Whatever Works and seeing him walk around and stand next to Patricia Clarkson and ERW, he does not give the impression of "tall".

Maybe average tall. My guess 5-11 +.

Again, doesn't really matter, Superman only needs to have presence

Unless they've personally measured his height, their opinion is meaningless.

They don't claim scientific accuracy; but their opinion is far from meaningless. Have you visited the site? They've got comparison photos, eye-witness testimonials, etc. Just as SHH members are obsessed about getting movie details correct, those guys are obsessed about height accuracy. :cwink:

Put it this way. In Hollywood, it's pretty common for shorter leading men to round their height up by a couple of inches. If you're going to believe any source, I'd go with Celebheights over a publicist's statement or a CV issued by the actor, himself.

Scientific accuracy is key in my opinion -- not hearsay, regardless of the source. I prefer truth, not gossip. Moreover, I trust my own sense of perception and rather not rely on that of others.

That's all I'm sayn

(yes, ERW is prob taller, but still... I hope Adams is on the smaller side)

next to these two, his head should be out of frame. He's even closer to the camera, shouldn't he look even bigger?

"statistically speaking...of course"

Seriously, could Routh's S-curl look faker.

^That there pretty much sums it up.

I think it can... yes

funny thing is, he's got the real thing!

That doesn't look more fake than Routh's for a couple of obvious reasons:

1) Like you said, it's real.
2) Routh's hair is extremely straight. People with extremely straight hair generally don't have spitcurls -- a single one for that matter.

And none of these proves a damn thing. My thumb looks bigger than the moon if I photograph it appropriately.

In most of those pics he looks about 6'0 even. With the Superman boots on, he'll be a good 6'3. Cavill's not a naturally big guy build wise, but he managed to put a solid base of muscle on a small bone frame. I give him props for busting his ass at the gym and pushing all the iron it took to get bulked up like he did. He looks like he's a solid 220 lbs now.

He looks quite a bit taller than Larry David who is supposedly 5'11, so I'd say he's somewhere between 6'1 and 6'2. And I think he has more of a medium bone frame. People with small frames have a tendency to look very skinny (even if they're not), especially when younger. I agree with the rest of your post though. Well said.
