I think some artists may use them again for one-shots but I don't think they will filter back into the main comics timeline again.

Well, there's always this one:

The Classic Suit and bright colors look good, its a pity Snyder cannot see why Superman needs bright primary colors, the classic suit is still the best suit.

I feel even if the suit was like that....then another group of people will complain.

I like Snyder's suit for te most part. Or rather... I can live with it because it could have been way worse.

He doesn't see it that way because he doesn't get Superman. His worship and wish to film the Superman-hating Dark Knight Returns by the ever disgusting Frank Miller is proof of that.

you took the words straight from my brain

Way to insult Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. How does he look ******ed in that drawing? Because he isn't sneering? Because he's smiling? Disgusting.

That's worse than the adapt or die insult, although it is an insult too.

The lack of respect and in fact, outright hatred some have of classic Superman is completely sickening.

The fact that the sneering, red eyes style of drawing Superman is worshiped and a drawing of him actually smiling-which is was Superman is SUPPOSED to do is ridiculed just shows how little modern fans understand Superman.

Really, they just need a different character, because what they want is not Superman. Period.
You are an angry, angry man.

Have you even seen the picture you posted?! He just looks stupid in that particular picture, haha.

And I love and respect the Superman I grew up with, but I have no problem accepting a new interpretation in movie form. In fact, it's a very exciting prospect.

Thing with that though, is that the people complaining wouldn't really have a leg to stand on, unless it was the trivial stuff like lengths of the cape, boots, hair, or the brightness of a certain color... The nit-picky stuff that you just can't help. Because that is undeniably Superman's costume up there... And the people who would complain about it being dated and whatnot aren't people who's opinion of the look of Superman is one I'd put much stock in...

While I'm gonna accept the new design and hope the movie is great and go in with an open mind, I feel like people b**ching about the changes are justified. No trunks/belt and the alien-like ribbing stuff is a major change to the classic suit. It is going to take some adjustment.

I'm glad you agree... but why has the quote been edited so that it makes no sense?

Sometimes that happens with my comp when I quote. I have honestly no goddamn idea why it gets rid of some words instead of others. Usually I put the word back in, but for large posts it can get tedious.

I'm sorry, but it's not about "getting" Superman. The reality is, he is putting forth a product that he feels will appeal to the masses and not the fanboys, thank goodness! This is Hollywood, and it's not about respecting/using the source material as a whole, because that's just NOT going to cut with today's society. However, I am sure that he is using the source material to a point, but then his creative team takes over from there. The product that we wind up seeing on the big screen is going to be kickass and will put butts in the seats. Whether you like it or not, it's about the bottom line and I know that just KILLS you inside. I have been a fan of the character for as long as I can remember (almost 40 years), and I haven't felt this excited for a Superman film in a LONG time. Oh and just because the suit doesn't have the bright colors that Reeve wore or the suit directly from the comics, doesn't make him any less Superman. It's not about the suit....it's about WHO Superman is that defines who/what he is. That tends to get lost in the shuffle. I'm sure you are going to come back with "I'm not a true Superman fan", blah blah blah, but I really don't care because I know who/what Superman is TO ME and you can't convince me otherwise.

If the rights revert to the Siegels, and Marvel or some other company buys them, would the costume change more drastically than it already has?

Well, there would be two versions of "Superman." The S&S one would be the Action #1 version (reasonably familiar). I dunno what the WB remainder would/could legally look like (a fair bit different, I presume).

maybe he will become subject 1 or as I call him "emoman"

I might be more inclined to agree with you if we had actually had a well made, TRUE TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL, Superman film that people didn't enjoy...

Right now they're just making changes cause they want to, not because they're fixing anything that's broken.

They've tried for 25 years to modernize Superman, to go away from what made him popular in the first place because they decided it wasn't hip or cool enough...and it failed. The immediate reaction to the DCnU costume and the MOS costumes without the trunks from the MSM and it's readers has been crotch jokes and ridicule...Superman and superheroes are always going to be seen as silly childish things to a degree. Watch MSM coverage of SDCC-it's basically, "hey let's laugh at the nerds." Running from their roots as bright fantasies for children is a mistake, especially in the case of Superman. Superman should be a film made for children first.

Marvel would never buy Superman because they have their own characters to worry about, and most of them are the antithesis of Superman, which made them bi in the first place.

Plus, they would have to pay the family too, just like DC will if they continue a working relationship. Either way, I think Marvel respects DC too much to get Superman. I hope.

I was thinkning the same thing... The jaw, the wavy hair, and the eyebrows. I found a head study by JLGL and compared it to a shot of Cavill's head

Agreed. Every time I see Cavill's jaw, I'm like.. "That's Superman!!"
Now I'm in the mood to look up some Garcia-Lopez artwork.

I can't remember is cavill's hair dark enough I know it's not black but is it a really dark brown

They would buy him in a heartbeat. With the force of a thousand red suns.

People....there is no call for repeatedly using the word ******ED to describe something that you don't like. It is rude and offensive and insensitive towards the mentally challenged. Do not continue to do this.

No. Superman should not be made for children. These films, when made for children, are made poorly, because children have very low standards, so filmmakers don't try very hard, resulting in crappy films.

And so is "mentally challenged." It's now known as "intellectually disabled."

Though that does not change your point - just an FYI.

Intellectually disabled? That is incredibly offensive. How about "person of Special Consciousness"/ PSC?

This is why I don't give a **** about political correctness. Political correctness is the fascism of the 10s.
