yeah, they should have kept some more if the elements of that suit.

the cowl change was good from a logical pov to move his head, but chbdb (could have been done better)

looks good on film. Keep it dark and movin!

And now... a message from our sponsor...

At least with Superman, I think we will see daylight action.

I'll dislike every live action Batman costume until they do one that isn't all black and has a cowl that looks good. If the Keaton costumes were dark gray or the Nolan Batsuits were dark gray, I'd like them fine.

I liked all the costumes on the TV show except Batman's, although it wasn't a serious show of course.

I like the costumes from Bat in the Sun productions.
Here's the most recent iteration from the "Seeds of Arkham" short.

that's not bad. Like the cowl face area.

The cape looks cool but I can imagine that since it goes over the shoulders it may be harder to move quickly.

If the sewed in some "Kevlar" type ab area lines it would be swell...

yes the arkham games have the best batsuit forver into enternity

Do I need to post my manip again?

Oh, and anyone who uses the Dead End costume as an argument against the traditional costume is an idiot.

Why would anyone have an emotional attachment to the MOS costume? All we've seen is set pics-while the original costume had almost 50 years of greatness and Post-Crisis stories with it. I mean, let's be realistic: this movie is being made because of a lawsuit, and is being directed by a mediocre at best director whose last two movies have bombed.

Where did I say anyone had an emotional attachment to the MOS costume?

I just said that you calling a design that I like a 'tramp stamp' and the new Superman i'm looking forward to a 'superskank' offends me. It implies I have bad taste, and it's unnecesarily rude.

As for Shuster being dead and therefore having no input in the costume that is replacing his design, all the more reason not to change it. Changing his design without him being involved, which is obviously impossible, disrespects his memory IMO.

So you do want Superman to stay frozen in time forever.

That's good to know.

You know he CAN'T though... right?

I mean you do accept that in order for stories to continue being told, he's going to change, costume and all?

Superman wasn't frozen in time from 1938 to 1986, he rather evolved with times. But with Byrne's "Man of Steel" a hard cut happened that resulted in a Superman that only looked like the previous version(s). The damage Byrne did might never really been undone since even modern writers with the right intention want to fuse the pre- and post-crisis takes all the time. Often it doesn't work out.

I agree with that.

I'm more talking about the new suit for the movie here, than massive changes to the characters personality and backstory all at once like what happened with Byrne. THAT I can see being angry with.

If MOS is a good take on the character of Superman, one that is true to how Seigel and Shuster intended him but does not ignore ALL the evolution of the character since, it will be great.

Changes to the costume just don't upset me as much as they do Kuro.

Because I don't want Superman to stay frozen in time, while all the other heroes around him adapt and move on with their head held high.

Superman's pretty much the last to catch up in terms of making a modern film that lets go of the nostalgia of the character and brings him into a modern setting.

The new suit is a big part of that.

Bravo, sir.

I think they made the Superman movie that felt right to make at the time, but it was really too early. Now is the perfect climate to reboot the character and it needs to be all the way. No studio was willing to do that when SR went into production, but with Batman kicking major ass with a new start and Marvel nailing the superhero gate open all the way now, it just makes sense. It's a new era for comic book characters on screens and other media, and we haven't seen that version of Superman yet.

Exactly, I think the world is in a place where it's ready for a hopeful hero unlike Nolan's Batman. The reception of Captain America is a good indication of that.

Of course, the movie thing is Singer's fault who wasted a great opportunity in 2006.

Completely true.

Agreed.

I mean, looking at the opportunity we have now it sort of makes you glad SR was the movie it was... everything happens for a reason. SR's lack of success led us here, so thank god it wasn't a better movie, or we might have already had a sequel by now, and the world would never know the MOS we are about to see.

Hopefulsuicide is a girly-girl.

Oh I don't know about that. I've been known to drink pints of lager and burp :hehe:

I really don't understand why people think Superman Returns is such a bad movie. Sorry, but I really don't understand.

Most of the time I blame it on the fanboys & girls (which can be taken in a patronising way, but hey, whatever floats your boat) not being able to take on something that's completely out of league with the comics. It happened with X-Men Origins Wolverine, even with the X-trilogy and at the top of my head, at 1am, I can't think of anything else.

But I firmly believe you do not mess with Superman's costume. You just don't.

That's just an easy way for you to discount people's issues with the movie. Of which there are MANY.

Like Singer did?

The Archangel of Off Topic will come smite thee both if you don't repent.

Well, as I said before it has nothing to do with anyone who likes the costume. Fan opinion doesn't matter to me. Faithfulness and respect to Superman and his creators does. The MOS costume is not faithful and therefore to me it is not acceptable.

And Superman has changed-too much. Change is not always good. They changed Superman so much that he lost what made people like him in the first place. They shouldn't be ashamed of what Superman is. And the MOS costume says to me that they are.
