this is BASICALLY what i'd like to see...

...of course, i'd like to see something more customized...but i like that they look sleek and sporty.

This is what I want too.

Thinking out loud. Something along the lines of this maybe.

I wonder if Clark could be inspired by an actual comic book superhero when making the suit. Kindof like Bruce being inspired by Zorro.

The hair

I hate Lees take on the \S/, I hate the boots, The cape having the same epic proportions as the 300 cape I can live with.

Just a thought but...

How would the fans react if there were two costumes in the movie?

Costume 1) Put together by Ma Kent, looks good (very faithful to comic/Reeve suit/home made) for When Superman first reveals himself to the world.

Costume 2) Same design but sleeker, higher spec materials given to Superman by whover (government/Star labs/Luthorcorp?) as a gift after Costume 1 is damged beyond repair during climatic batle of M.O.S?

As I said.. Just a thought

i dunno, looks kinda kiddish too me with the velcro and the sneakers.

i hope not. he is the original hero, the one all others are measured against.

Maybe hercules of greek myth, but the warrior angle comic from smallville was ridiculously dumb and i hope it never sees the light of day again. i would like to leave it in smallville.

That show became so hypocritical it's not funny "no tights no flights" for Clark but everyone else it's cool

I really liked it in the beginning though

The way I see it Superman doesn't need to be inspired by any other hero because in his mind he's just doing the right thing. And his costume isn't really a superhero costume, but an expression of who he really is. The idea of superheroes gets modeled after him.

It's not like Clark goes and decides he wants to be a superhero. He just wants to be himself and live up to his values (from the Kents and as the last Krytonian) the best he can.

Can't speak for anyone else. But this would be my dream Superman suit:

Main Bodysuit- Material and design:

Symbol:

Symbol material (raised to that extent)-

Belt and trunks design (yes I know the manip is pretty much perfect)-

* This would also be the blue for the black areas of the suit. The other, a lighter, royal blue.

The first reveal of the suit to the fans and public will be crucial..I know it won't make or break how well the film does, but it will create either some positive or negative buzz from that point forward. Lets hope it's positive.
The first reveal of the SR suit pretty much caused a split amongst the fans. I sure don't wanna see that happen again.

I dont mind this too much but i feel it takes away too much of the muscle definition. Would you want 'spray on' muscles like in Spiderman or do you like it more like that image?

I think this is pretty perfect for a raised shield.

Boots:

They look like knee high Crocs.

I would be very pleased to get something like this.
I am actually surprised to not see any manips using some of those thor shots.

As far as definition goes I don't have to see it through the costume. If they have a few body shots of Cavill you will know he's physically imposing. Like Bale in Begins, if they were to use muscle shading on the fabric I wouldn't mind, but for Cavill's sake they should put in a shirtless scene to show off his hard work.

For the boots, I hadn't noticed the similarity to crocs, but now I can't unsee it, I do still feel they have the most potential out of all the designs, and on a side note I would KILL for the initial concept boots from Superman Returns.

So would you want something more like a military boot or are you more for an alien costume?

Something more like this but higher?

It could be military looking but not actual GI boots these are motorcycle boots which do have to handle rough conditions but this is what I was leaning towards, I really like the bottom ones

also the boots from begins are ok because it looks like there partly made out of kevlar sorry for the TDK figure but its the best pic of the boots i could get

I definitely like a boots look over a sneaker look.

It was a quick job because my graphics tablet pen decided to stop responding. Work in progress.

I prefer something in-between.

Boots are too clunky for something so skintight and lightweight.

Wrestling-boots are the closest I can come to a reference when thinking superhero-boots in generel.

^ Those in red without laces added some seams.

I love wrestling, but I don't want Superman to look like he's going to lock up with John Cena. Cena wouldn't put Superman over anyway. :)

Cena struggles putting CENA over :D

but back on topic.. A big no to laces... I did like the boots featured in the SR concepts tho

What is the general consensus on the costume being alien or Earth made?

I could go either way as long as it looks good and is not a radical departure from the classic suit

I like these, more of a grounded reality feel which is what Nolan mostly does with his films. Also, they're giving me a Paul Pope feel:

But about Synder? Maybe this is what he'll use, mainly because they look like the comics version, but with realistic/modern materials which is something we're all thinking the suit will be made of.
