Really (?)
Looks like a child's effort as opposed to a comic book artist, sketch or no sketch.
i've seen far worse concepts in this thread, but i've also seen far better concepts....and this a thread that consists mostly of amateur artists.
I am very angry right now and im not that much of a purist like him but Superman`s costume is just something you dont mess with or change it, imo. It already reached perfection. Well, thank god I stopped reading comics a long time ago. But this still pisses me off because it shows how incompetent the people at DC are. Dan Didio needs to be fired ASAP.Man, poor Kurosawa is going to have a stroke when he sees this.

Yeah, I mean the general audience was really upset by the black rubber suit in Batman '89.
Seriously, Burton's Batman design was a far bigger departure than the new Superman costume.
Man, poor Kurosawa is going to have a stroke when he sees this.
I dont really understand the point of the belt.
Its like giving him laces but no boots.
I have yet to see WB take an exact design from the comics yet.

The new suit sucks but modern comics suck ass anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the costume for the movie. They're ashamed of traditional superheroes anyway and have been for years, so none of this crap shocks me very much.
Only the twits at WB/DC could ruin perfection like Superman's costume.
The upside to the DC reboot is I can drop Batman, Detective, Action and Superman and not care since the numbering will be ruined anyway and my sets of them will be finished. This will save me money in the long run.
As for the movie, I have less interest in it now since the chances of it being anything close to the classic is greatly reduced. The movie costume will NOT have trunks, bright colors, or the \S/ on the back of the cape. It will have something like this new and supposedly Jim Lee designed costume. It will suck. But I'm not up to anger at this point, just acceptance...that the superhero genre as I have liked it is totally and irrevocably dead, and that I will never see the kind of Superman movie that I've always wanted to see. Superman hasn't really existed to me since 1986, but now I feel a dread that there is no hope that they'll every bring back a Superman that resembles what Siegel and Shuster intended for the character to be.
But I could be wrong. I hope I am.
Well, supposedly Morrison will be writing Superman at the relaunch--and I know you like All-Star. I guess whether it pays off or not will depend on how much freedom Morrison has (assuming the rumour of him writing the title is true).
I think you're out of luck there, since Didio is talking about the characters being younger.Morrison is the only modern writer I trust with Superman, although he IS a Batman guy first. Maybe they'll get away from the farmboy/Jethro/Clark Kent is the real person crap with this new Superman. I'd like it if they made this Superman the first superhero again, active since 1938. If he's gonna live to be a million years old anyway like Morrison did before, then he would still look young at 90.
I'm reserving judgement until I see exactly how much continuity is changing. I'm currently hoping the answer is "Very little," but with talk of characters being younger, I'm concerned.I will admit that I'm intrigued since I have no interest in the modern DCU anyway. The real DC to me is Pre-Crisis so this Universe that they are trashing is one that I have never liked or accepted. But I do hate it for the fans of it.
When people think of Batman's look, the image that immediately comes to mind would typically be his scalloped cape, pointy eared cowl and the utility belt. Batman's costume has a lot more freedom to play around with.
When people think of Superman, the image that immediately comes to mind would usually be the S shield, the spitcurl, the blue suit with the red cape and trunks.
You're comparing apples to oranges.
I honestly believe the general (non comicbook reading) public would think "He's forgot his trunks"If, next Halloween, I decided to be Superman without the trunks, you really think anyone would question who I was?
