I bet they're going for John Stewart, both to spice up the racial diversity, and to distance themselves from the 2011 lackluster, as well as the fact that he probably is better know to the GA due to the animated series. This, along with similar reasons, would make Wally, imo, a more logical choice. Plus, Barry and Hal are a little too similar..
Great cast! Count me out of the adult Wally West group... imho that's the way of 1997's Batman and Robin..
You think the film would have been any better if Clooney was running around with a 12 year old?
Anton Yelchin would be ideal for Wally.
Yep.

I dunno if he's been mentioned earlier but I'd prefer Gyllenhaal playing Barry. Especially if there is a follow up franchise cause he is sort of a well known star. Anyway rather him playing Barry than Batman!

Aaron Paul?? really? He looks like he could play a hobbit. Too short and he has kate bosworths forehead.

He's a good pic. His hair is right and his face is close enough. But I've been spoiled by the TV series infecting me and I expect my Flash to be built like a damn truck. That JWS looked like a superhero even when dressed normal.

I agree 1000% with you! The outfit for JWS's Flash was perfection to me! BTW did you know that Jack Coleman from Heroes ( and tons of other shows) was supposed to be the Flash on TV but JWS got it instead?

Didnt know that. But what always struck me about JWS as Barry is that he was obviously a pretty big and in shape dude. Though they did cover that by mentioning his and his brother's high school and college track victories.

I just belive that Flash should either be really ripped (like Barry) or tall and lithe like Wally.

You right. I envision some akin to the Flash TV suit, but just streamlined alittle bit more. Have Barry in the first two movies and in the third have a passing of the torch to Wally!

I still think he's the guy for Barry.

Have it based on the New 52 origin, have Duncan Jones direct and you got a pretty damn good film.

i'd rather they didn't. it'd be nice to have a superhero movie without parent issues.

Too bad about that lack of acting ability as well, huh? Oh wait.....:o

You think the film would have been any better if Clooney was running around with a 12 year old?

Um... yes. It would have been self aware amongst other things. But more to the point, Forever would have been a much better film developing a young Dick Grayson, debuting Robin at the end of the film building anticipation for 'Batman and Robin' a few years later where Robin is a supporting hero that we've seen grow up, and are thus more invested in.

There's some things that need to be dropped to make a good story, Robin not being an adult is not one of them. Same with Wally. This is simply because investing in a child supporting character in one movie makes it easy to accept a teenage sidekick in a second film and all the good things that come along with the idea of a teenage sidekick.

On the other hand, making an adult sidekick creates a character that has little use in the story, but still comes with all the bad things about having a sidekick, especially the Main Character-lite problem with the lack of age difference.

Having a young adult as a newbie only contrasts well if the main character is graying, basically. Compare Indiana Jones and Short Round vs Indiana Jones and Shia Lebouf's character. A kid sidekick should start out like the kid from Road to Perdition or even the sidekick girl from Book of Eli, come into their own by the end of the film and then the next film, they'll be three years older, and presumably have had a lot of training, and will both make sense as someone who goes into action AND add a lot of unique storytelling to the story.

Edit: Wow, that was a rant! But that's my opinion, nonetheless.

:cwink:Yep I agree with this choice. But People seem to like him for Hal Jordan and I dont see it:huh:

Allright guys can we speculate story ideas for Flash.Admittedly Im not the biggest flash fan but parts of his mythos intrigues me.What turns me off is that a lot of flash stories I read pass him off as a generic superhero-The speed force concept uis the only thing that tries to push him out of it.

So I was wondering what are your story ideas for Flash and what shld the Flash do to set itself apart from being seen as just another Superhero movie.

Isn't there any middle ground beween the ages of characters/actors?. Robin is either 12 or mid-20?

Something Im working on for fun...actual Flash manip to come.

See, the mistake that you and everyone else who have read a good deal of comics make, is assuming other people have the same relationship to the characters that you do.

Most people who haven't read the comics and in dept followed characters have pretty much the same relationship to sidekicks, most of all the kid ones: They're fu**in' lame. Even I, who have watched a lot of DCAU etc., and even read some comics, have a strong dislike of the concept of (kid) sidekicks. Of course, it gets worse if the character is a serious kind, like Batman (Not the goofy detective that Robin was created to accompany 70 years ago). I'm sure I'd like Robin if I had read a ton of Batman, but I haven't.

Sorry, but that's how it is :)

That is wicked. I look forward to the manip!

Could be taken for the official teaser poster. You have done a really good job here.

Thanks - I might do another, more theatrical one (with the lightning bolt logo) after Im done with the one Im doing now.

Good question, I'm not that tuned into the Flash's rogues gallery but I think Zoom or Captain Cold be good.

Zoom, Mirror Master, or a Heatwave/Captain Cold team up would be nice to see. I could see them being updated like Ironman's cinematic villains.
