I think I can tell you why Goku is...unenthusiastic in the trailer. If Goku would be happy go lucky through the whole movie, would he not be a flat character? I believe he will change from depressed-cause-my-grandpa-died learning teen to happy go lucky master of martial arts.

He's already a flat character as far as I'm concerned. Justin Chatwin will never pull off the cheerful Goku. He's so dull and clearly unenthusiastic because he doesn't want to be there I bet.

dude you're telling me Chatwin can't pull of as being cheerful, based on this trailer, what we see is what we get, he's always gonna talk in a monotone voice all throughout the whole damn movie, maybe it doesn't apply to you but maybe his voice is Mr. Sean Schemmel because the serious tone of the moment.... I'm sure there will be comical moments and we will see the goofy side of Goku you so desperately want,

Umm, did you watch Chumbscrubbers? His performance was the antithesis of enthusiastic.

His acting in that is exactly the same in every one of his movies. He definitely will succeed in putting me to sleep. That's for sure.

let's say Hokie, they picked your choice for Goku, and this hypothetically speaking, let's say they picked the perfect actor in your standards, and you're just praising them, but when the movie comes out, he gives the most crappy performance you ever seen, now you are left disappointed..

Well..if I'm proven wrong, I'll admit it. Right now, I don't see anything to convince me otherwise. Hell..it could be worse. At least they didn't cast Shia Labeouf.

People aren't bashing him just because of the trailer. A lot of people were turned off by him even before he was cast. Most people know him as that kid from War of the Worlds.

Heath Ledger quieted his doubters and naysayers with the first TDK trailer he appeared in, so I don't think Chatwin needs more than one to show us that he has what it takes to be Goku.
