The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

OMG once again someone brings "TDK measuring scale" into the subject......

Both Ledger and Chatwin had their doubters when they were cast in their respective high-profile roles, Ledger probably moreso than Chatwin, so I don't think it's unreasonable to compare the two.

well the movie hasn't come out yet, so it is unreasonable, we don't know full scale of Justin's performance

with Ledger, we know, how? because they movie came out, we watched, we praised...

We do know. From the second he says his lines, that gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect. It was the same with Ledger. People doubted him, but as soon as they saw the trailer...they were blown away. With Chatwin, it's the complete opposite.

ok, but Ledger's dialogue was all throughout the damn trailer

with Chatwin we get a few lines.... so no that's not a good analogy at all

Unless Chatwin's performance in the movie will be vastly different than the one from the trailer, I think this is a pretty good indicator of how he will fare as Goku in the full-feature movie.

So what? He was the focus. We get a few lines from Chatwin, but that's really all we need to hear.

We need to hope that the makers of the trailer went out of their way to choose some of Chatwin's worst lines, because if his performance in the trailer is indicative of his performance in the film it won't be fun to sit through.

You guys are comparing Ledgers Cast to Chatwin?

:lmao:

For one Ledger had Nicholsons' BIG shoes to fit in .Chatwin is the first to play him in a live action movie. There's no comparision.

indeed, the role of Goku has never been officially portrayed until now. And if Chatwin's performance is really good, should they decide to do more and he wishes to not return, then someone would have to try and fill his shoes

Quite.
Like trying to fill Jason Patrics shoes in Speed 3

justin chatwin's lines why are people *****ing about him not sounding goku esq. i don't know maybe because the trailer is supposed to be serious to draw in general audience and save the best parts of his character (hot dog cart? remember that") and then the bike scene goku is obivously depressed considering what just happened a few hours ago and he a freaking teenager does everyone expect him call bulma a witch at his age and i don't know has better understanding of the world around him. if you're bashing justin so much why don't you bash and nitpick the other goku actor from the magic begins. again this is nothing more than stereotype, nitpicking and prejudice. watch the chumscrubber and see that he can break out of the stereotype mold people are forcing him into

it saddens me how ignorant people are getting. instead of moving forward we're moving back. shouldn't we have learned from ledger about the pressure joker fans forced on him and led him to his death.

Chatwin will do fine as Goku. Seriously, just cos of the very few lines he says in the trailer doesn't mean he will act like that in the entire film!

There was an interview with Chatwin where he said he read all the Dragonball Manga, rewatched the anime and read some of the Monkey King for his preparation for the role and during breaks, he would stay in character and tell jokes to people on set and fellow actors. You read that, JOKES! Which means happy and cheerful like Goku!

And the "Cool" line in the trailer, when I first saw the trailer I just saw cliche and the delivery was a bit boring but when I rewatched it a couple of times and paused, checking out the frames, you will see that Goku looks pretty upset and then just says "Cool" as a minor comment as his grandpa has just died.

you think Ledger's death was caused by a bunch of nerds on message boards????

no but it was the drive to deliver something epic that killed him. but batman fanboys immediately concluded that he will suck in the first teaser trailer. but after seeing the movie we all know what happened from there...

the same conclusion is happening with justin and jamie in a trailer that makes up i don't 5% of the movie

i don't know the conditions surrounding Ledger's death, but i'm sure that there was more to it than just his role as the Joker. it's not as if he was problem free up until he did TDK. i doubt that one role in a movie would be enough for someone to die from it, regardless of how bad or stressful that role is.

oh...and the fans that concluded that he would suck after hearing his voice in the teaser trailer were in the minority. most fans either liked it or wanted to see more. there certainly wasn't an overwhelmingly negative reaction like there is with Chatwin.

Chatwin's pretty much out on his own, to be honest. With Ledger, he had Bale, Eckart, Oldman, Freeman, and Caine all praising him. It was there interviews that gave me hope for a great performance. Chatwin has virtually nothing to work with other than Marsters and Fat, neither of which have addressed his performance because they're too busy defending themselves.

Now that Marsters has restored faith in his performance, perhaps we'll be able to hear his thoughts on Chatwin. If it never comes up, then maybe that's something to worry about.

Ledger had people hooked when the first image and teaser trailer was released.

It's not a valid comparison.

James Wong is not Christopher Nolan. Justin Chatwin is no Heath Ledger.

There's no such thing as an invalid comparison.

And I absolutely hated the first image, along with countless others. And that's just taking the SHH! Batman board into account. Everyone complained about how much of a departure it was from the original. Now what does that remind me of? Hmmm....
