The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

yeah....we've pretty much argued this topic to death. let's move on.

has it been confirmed that they'll even show his Oozaru form in this flick?

I don't think it's been confirmed but the Oozaru form needs to appear in the movie at least once. It's what made people to start to question whether Goku was actually human or not.

I think his strength should be enough for people to question if he is human or not, although it has been stated that Piccolo will announce that Goku is a Saiyan and not of this world. Personally I think is would have been nice to be left a mystery as to what Goku is for the viewers.

Well, most people who will go see this movie will automatically know that Goku isn't human. There's only a select few people that'll see this movie & isn't familiar with the manga or anime.

But don't you think they should atleast make a movie that isn't a "fan only" flick? Or else everyone that doesn't know about the manga/anime to goes to see it will come out confused and more then likely displeased.

wait wait... before we talk about oozaru.. will goku have his tail? that's the first question to ask before oozaru.

I'm not saying it should be a "fan only" movie but it needs to stay somewhat true to the original manga or the lot of fans who know about the original manga & anime will be displeased.

Dragon Ball would be one of the hardest adaptions from Manga/Anime to live action, you will never be able to please all the fans. Thats why they should make a basic story without boring everyone with explanations. Just how many things do you expect them to explain?

All you want is action & that'd be dumb. THERE NEEDS TO BE A STORYLINE. The sooner you get that through your head, the quicker these discussions will end.

When did I say all I want is action

When you said they need to cut down on storytelling.

I didn't say cut down on the story telling, I said cut down on the explanations, there is a difference. Dragon Ball is a heavy story, just remember they are trying to cram a series into a movie, keep it simple.

I wouldn't say they are cramming it. All they need to do is take the most important parts of the manga & put them into the movie. For all we know in the movie Goku lived in the forest & began going to High School after meeting Bulma & the others.

Just how much do you expect them to explain? What points of DB history do you think they should cover?

1. Kami

2. Goku's adventures

3. Goku's battle with Piccolo Daimou

Kami alone is a big ass explanation.

Most of Kami's history and relevance can be explained through bits of dialogue by Son Gohan recounting the legend of the dragonballs to Goku, and Piccolo Daimao giving away small hints about his past.

That is a very broard range, his adventures up to Piccolo includes Pilaf, Red Ribbon, Tien Shinhan, Baba, ect. That's what I mean by keeping it simple, and the way this movie looks there will be little to no history of Goku, in other words his story starts as a teen.

I can't wait to see how this guy does as Goku on the big screen. I just hope he does justice to the character. I've been a big fan of the series for along time, my favorite character is Gohan. But Goku is my second favorite character and I want to see him done right.

Trust me, right about now we all feel the same way. We won't know anything until we get a trailer though which may be a while from now.

I have no idea if anyone will agree with this, to be honest i dont even know if i do.

But the other day a thought came across me.

Piccolo should kill Goku in this movie, if a sequel is made itll be about the Saiyan Saga where Raditz arrives kills Goku, training, brought back to life, fights Nappa and Vegeta.

But all that will feel rushed.

We already know Piccolo tells Goku hes a saiyan and not Raditz so in a sequel Raditz would only be needed to tell Goku 2 saiyans are arriving.

It would be better if at the end of this movie aftre a long perilous fight, both fall and Goku dies (nobody would expect that), Piccolo is in no shape to take over the world and goes off to train (just like in Dragonball)

When Goku dies he see's Kami who then tells him 2 saiyans are arriving and he should train with King Kai.

The last seen should be of Goku beginning his run down snake way and then after the credits show 2 saiyan pods heading to earth.

To me this would be much better because people would feel Goku was dead longer since he'll have died in this movie, 3 years later a sequel is made and half way through that film hes ressurected.

Itd just feel like he was dead much longer and that it wasnt so brief and unimportant in the sequel that he died.

Besides a sequel wouldnt have enough time to include all of Raditz's part too. And Piccolo was the one to kill Goku anyway.

I'm sure this could have easily gone in the Goku thread.

I don't think they will use the afterlife stuff, the snake road and all that... But I think Goku dying and coming back early in the story is a good step, if we use the concept of "only one resurrection from the dragon balls". That way, once Goku has already died, he can't die, and we got a little more drama :p

Well, originally the dragonballs could only revive a person once.
